A Way to Die: The Films of Peter Christopherson and John Balance

Founders of Coil, a cult entity of experimental industrial British music, Peter Christopherson and John Balance also directed films from 1970 to 1980, exhumed and restored by Timeless. Shot on 8 and 16mm film, these unclassifiable subversive marvels, unsettling and trippy, garbed in gay masochist aesthetics, are as much family films, performances, body horror and urban nightmares. They're above all characterized by a tormented imagination under the sign of Eros and Thanatos with an irrepressible taste for death. There was an empty space next to Antony Balch, Derek Jarman and Jean Genet : it's no longer vacant. Maxime Lachaud and Reivaks Timeless deliver a unique document, haunted by the duo’s music, with this one way journey into limbo, where they’re joined by the recently deceased Monte Cazazza, a founding father of the concept of industrial music.

We Are Coming, chronique d’une révolution féministe

A new generation is politicizing the issues surrounding the body, sexuality and gender relations. For two friends, Nina Faure and Yéléna Perret, it starts with an awareness. With a few others, they ask themselves why, in a society that claims that gender equality is already there, access to pleasure is so difficult. They organized discussion groups, discovered Our Bodies, Ourselves, a historical feminist manual that opened new doors of analysis. They met with teachers, educators and sociologists to draw up step by step what would end up being a real plan of attack. More and more involved in the struggles that are taking place everywhere, at the heart of this feminist movement that is sweeping the world, they discover a pleasure that was unsuspected until now, that of pursuing a collective emancipation. The pleasure of abolishing patriarchy, quite simply.

The Caravaggio Mystery

In 2015, a Magdalene in Ecstasy was discovered in the modest collection of an Italian family. Was it the original by Caravaggio, who disappeared after his death in 1610, or one of the many copies made subsequently? After an expert appraisal, Mina Gregori, one of the greatest specialists on the artist, was convinced of the authenticity of the work. On her advice, the owners searched their archives and unearthed three documents: two inventories of paintings, dating from 1842 and 1864, as well as an old paper mentioning a "Madeleine inverted by Caravaggio". Starting from these pieces of evidence, an expert in ancient archives and an Italian art historian then launched into a vast investigation to try to retrace the route of the painting.
