RAPTURE

RAPTURE tells the story of Marko, an exiled Ukrainian vogue dancer, and his abandoned apartment in war-torn Donbas, Ukraine. In a VR experiment, Marko visits his inaccessible home. The two-channel installation unfolds as a diptych in two parts. In RAPTURE I – VISIT (an 18min video projection), Marko confronts his abandoned apartment, recreated through 3D scans and original photographs from the occupied area. This digital reconquest offers a powerful reflection on displacement, raising questions about recovery and loss in the face of war, as well as the possibilities and limitations of technology and its ultimate emotional impact. RAPTURE II – PORTAL (a 19min VR piece) shifts the viewer into Marko’s place and explores the body as an eternal home. Guided by Marko in a hypnotic session, the viewer moves through a virtual reconstruction of his apartment. Vogue dance elements juxtapose the strength of the human body in dance with its vulnerability in the face of war technology.

Suzanne Valadon, peintre sans concession

Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938) did not seem destined for a life as an artist. Born in 1865 as the daughter of a single washerwoman and mother herself at the age of 18 - to the future painter Maurice Utrillo - her fate could have been sealed. But Valadon broke with the conventions of her time in order to follow her artistic creative urge. The Centre Pompidou in Paris paid tribute to the artist's work with an exhibition in 2023, which traces her special life and extraordinary modernity in a film documentary. Archive material, interviews and animations provide an insight into her career, which is characterized by encounters and friendships with other great artists of her time.

Los niños perdidos

Gaël, Laeticia and Jean Julien meet in Paris 40 years after the making of Enfants coureurs du temps, a film they shot as children with André S. Labarthe and Sophie Barrouyer. The reunion triggers memories of that shared filming; together they reflect on the traces that the film and their childhoods have left on them. The filmed faces of those three children overlap with their own adult gazes, the Paris of 1983 merges with that of 2023. Time thus becomes the main character in this film.
