Harmony

Planet Harmonie is populated by creatures with forms unknown to humans. Despite the diversity of bodies, their speech consists solely of two words, yes and no. This is what Jésus Pérez discovers upon landing his spacecraft there, his hands full of gifts, manifesting a desire for peace and cultural sharing. During his quest, in search of the master of the land, he will have to face the hostility of the inhabitants, whose cause he does not understand despite numerous attempts at communication. Invaded by profound discouragement, he even begins to question his mission.

To Our Gardens

Since the 17th century, the Jardins des Tuileries in Paris have been a place for same-sex encounters and meetings, a tradition which was disrupted by the organization of the 2024 Summer Olympics. The images in To Our Gardens, captured a few months before the occurrence of the Games, were able to immortalize the twilight of a social phenomenon. Under the gaze of the statues, in the night and among the foliage, men meet in raw scenes while never diminishing the film’s powerful intimacy.

Jeunesse en (re)transition, trouver sa voix

Emma was born a girl. As an adolescent, she wanted to transition, i.e. change her gender. At the age of 14, with her parents' support, she was admitted to a hospital unit dedicated to trans-identity. At 15, she began hormone treatment. On the eve of her 17th birthday, she underwent a double mastectomy. Today, at 20, Emma returns to the gender she was born with, inventing her own path. At a time when countries pioneering gender transition for minors are changing their policies, this film attempts to shed a nuanced light on the subject.

Togoland Projections

Following in the footsteps of the Hamburg film director Hans Schomburgk who travelled through the German colony of Togo from Lomé to the north with his companion and actress Meg Gehrts in 1913, Jürgen Ellinghaus screens the footage shot then at its locations in modern-day Togo. Schomburgk’s affirmative images show slave labour, humiliation and the arrogance of the colonial power. The material is contrasted by Gehrts’ romanticising diary entries and other colonial reports which often testify to a horrifying coldness.
