Austentatious - I Don't Think So, Sir

My dear friends, it's time for us to welcome you to another 'lost' Jane Austen novel. It's been improvised from start to finish by the amazing cast of Austentatious. The actors conjure up the story from nothing, backed by fully improvised lighting, soundtrack and, now I come to think about it, our camerawork too. This is the third time we have recorded Austentatious, this time as part of their residency at the Arts Theatre in London's glittering West End.

Mental Falls

Mental Falls explores the legacy of a loved one’s sketchbook. The lyrical essay film by Louisa Fairclough weaves the voices of singers with Louisa’s own voice in a close observation of her sister Hetta Fairclough’s sketchbook. Hetta (1973-2008) produced a remarkable sketchbook of drawings which take the form of assemblages and visual poems. These drawings of Hetta’s probe at the complexities of being, pulling on her own experience to give voice to psychological intensities, yet make no attempt towards cathartic expression. Page by page, Louisa’s interpretation of her sister’s drawings – spoken and sung – becomes the soundtrack to the film.

NATURA 2040

'Natura 2040' draws its inspiration from Edward O. Wilson’s provocative Half-Earth theory, which reserving half of the planet as nature reserves to address the crises of ecological degradation and species extinction. The project envisions an alternative reality where the fictional organization Natura 2040 has compressed sprawling farmland into two 100-meter high walls that demarcate the boundaries between city and nature in the artificially constructed land of Flevopolder, Netherlands. This bold move leaves half of the polder to rewild, becoming an extension of the Oostvaardersplassen Nature Reserve.
