A feature-length documentary forming a diptych at each end of France. Two guided visits through the eyes of the people who inhabit each place. In Marseille, a deteriorated housing project is surrounded by walls cutting it off from the neighbouring private properties. In Calais, the fences and and the barbwire aim to push back the refugees hoping to reach the UK and build a better life there. "Écoute les murs tomber" (Listen to the Walls Fall) shows how human beings, moved by the desire to come and go, to live and to set themselves free from restrictions and dead ends, bypass what imprison them, prevent them and restrain them. When coming face-to-face with walls, "Écoute les murs tomber" offers pathways of hope.

Volodarka is the name of a village classified as zone 4 since the disaster of April 26, 1986. Vassili and Viera met in Volodarka that year. He was a reservist soldier who was called back on the night of April 27-28 for a compulsory mission to the Chernobyl plant. She lives alone in the village with her three children. Today, in Volodarka, more than 35 years after the disaster: one does not receive help to stay in this zone so little contaminated, they say. Here, an ordinary life. On 23 August 1939, the world was shocked to discover that Hitler and Stalin, the most intractable of their enemies at the time, had signed a pact that allowed them to divide Poland between them and gave the Nazi leader complete freedom to concentrate his forces in the West, against France and the United Kingdom. Through this agreement, Europe was to be thrown into war. For a long time, the relationship between Hitler and Stalin was ignored: their mutual fascination, their moves to get closer, the marks of confidence they exchanged and all the benefits they derived from the German-Soviet pact, before resuming their war to the death in June 41 with the "Barbarossa" operation.
