Homo Urbanus Shanghaianus

This work is a long-term research project developed until now in 10 different cities over the world: Seoul, Bogota, Naples, Saint-Petersburg, Rabat, Tokyo, Kyoto, Shanghai, Doha and Venice. Born as an artistic commission for the Agora Biennale in Bordeaux around the theme of the moving landscapes, these videos plunge into cities in a spontaneous and subjective approach with very modest means in order to translate in the closest possible way the feel of their constant moving nature: their human landscape. Presented in a comparative dynamic through the lens of a selection of themes and issues linked with the street daily life, the videos enable us to perceive each of these different urban contexts as an experimental, local and unique laboratory answering the same global challenge of how can we live all together.

Les nouvelles guérillères

By protesting, glueing strong messages in the streets, organising bike "rides" through town, and even by decolonising mentalities through art... Whether alone or as a collective, these women* activists are fighting inequalities based on gender, racism and sexism within the urban space. To each their own action and at their own level, they call out the prevailing patriarchy and suggest alternative egalitarian ways of living together, in a territory where nobody would be invisibilised or depreciated. Fourth-wave feminism is taking over Brussels so no sister will be alone in public space again.

L'Arrivee d'un train à La Ciotat: propaganda 2020

What will happen if propaganda will lose its voice? And become a pure silent movie performance. Suddenly it appears to be less powerful & impactful. Theatrical essence of propaganda is clear & striking. Journalists & hosts are actors on the scene of post-Greek theater embodying tragedy on screen. "The Society of the Spectacle" needs its own Avengers & propaganda fill these needs with fine actors. Sound is something we strive to find on YouTube, in social media or TikTok. Silent videos become uncomfortable unless they aren't filled with entertainment (including guns, murders or big newsbreak slogans).
