Tutor Jeronimo and heiress Josephe fall in love but are quickly torn from one another by execution and jail. However, when fate intervenes in the form of a massive earthquake, the two lovers have no idea what is in store for them.

Fourteen-year-old Kathi Lehner has been growing up with her father Robert and grandmother Hedwig since the death of her mother. Her neighbor is the elderly coachman Butzbichler and his horse Dublin. When Butzbichler has to go to the hospital after a traffic accident, Dublin is to be slaughtered. Kathi and her grandmother decide to buy the horse. They find a new home for the four-legged friend - at least until they can sell Dublin again. But then everything turns out quite differently.

The year is 1978. Hartmut Geerken, director of the Goethe-Institut in Kabul, is on a mission. “We cannot change society, but we can change the landscape,” he says—literally. A trickster, a Don Quixote, Geerken approaches cultural work with playful defiance, forging deep mutual respect with a land foreign to most Europeans. The film follows him pushing a grand piano on a handcart for an impromptu concert with Afghan and German musicians, visiting a village artist, and meeting a famed tabla player—illiterate, yet musically eloquent beyond words. What begins as a whimsical journey becomes a poignant love letter to a country on the brink of irrevocable change—lighthearted, yet laced with melancholy.

The planned construction of a railroad line to connect the small town of Dornstein with the wider world. But instead of the shortest and most practicable connection, the route runs through swampy terrain far away from Dornstein. So the mayor goes to Munich to make representations to the ministry. He achieved nothing, but his trip was soon stylized in Dornstein as a campaign against those up there. This leads the magistrate to break off his engagement to the mayor's daughter because of the latter's well-known hostility towards the government. And the people of Dornstein also start to get cold feet ...

Jakob, the son of a market woman, helps an old woman carry the groceries home one day. But the old woman turns out to be a herb witch. She enchants Jakob into a dwarf with a huge nose. He enters her service and is trained to become an excellent cook. Only years later does he return to his parents as an enchanted dwarf nose. Not even they recognize him. Disappointed, he offers his services to the duke's kitchen as a master of his trade. As a successful cook, he is nevertheless put to the test. For he does not know the herb "sneeze-with-lust". Fortunately for him, his new friend, the equally enchanted goose Mimi, whose life he has saved, does.

Captain Jeff Barlow is a pilot with heart and soul. On behalf of a French company, he dares to conduct an experiment that is not without danger: dry ice is to be shot into clouds over the Sahara to make them rain down. The aim is to put an end to the water shortage. However, the artificial rain project is anything but harmless. But Captain Barlow is far too passionate an aviator to be deterred by the danger. And so what has to happen, happens. A sandstorm is Barlow's undoing and he crashes his plane. Lost in the vastness of the Sahara, there is no trace of him. A search operation is launched but is unsuccessful. A race against time begins for Barlow, as his water supplies are running low...

The twelve year old Ivo has been living in Vienna with his family for three years. His father and brothers work at construction sites. Their Austrian neighbors despise the Yugoslav guest workers. Because the mother has to look after the sick grandmother at home in Croatia, Ivo runs the male household in Vienna alone. Solitude and insults from the locals make the child unhappy. And so Ivo decides on a rainy winter's day to return to his home village on his own.

Brigitte is caught between two men: on the one hand there is the ambitious Klaus, the father of her young daughter, and on the other the sensitive Wolfgang, her flatmate, to whom she feels attracted. With the active help of the housemates, especially her mother Klucke, she finds out who her heart really beats for.

Wanner, a man of independent means, has a mistress in Geneva. However, in order to spend a few days with her without risk, he decides to open a sales branch of a long-defunct company. He therefore hires a "trusted" employee in Geneva to look after the office premises, including the bedroom, and to provide his mistress with everything she needs. This arrangement works quite well at first, and Wanner enjoys this sweet diversion to the fullest until... well, until his wife wants to visit the branch and, above all, meet his business partner. Where can he conjure up a partner so quickly?

Based on a popular 1931 play, the film tells the fate of a naive young woman named Marianne, who breaks off her reluctant engagement with Oskar the butcher after falling in love with a fop named Alfred who, however, has no serious interest in returning her love. For this error, she must pay bitterly.

Rough-and-ready vice detective Perrak has to follow a 1000 leads during the investigation of a trans murder case. In a profoundly mysterious massage parlor he meets industrialist wife Claire Imhoff, who knows more about the crime than she wants to admit.

Admiral Dagobert von Kattnig develops a rescue system for the German Navy. The mountain troops are to test the device in Upper Bavaria and Dagobert sends his son and his staff boatman there. Instead of testing the device, however, the two marvel at the cozy country life. When an inspection is due, the mountain troops are fortunately mistaken and escape the initial chaos. But when they all meet up, chaos is inevitable.

It’s a black-and-white record of European cities in the dark (2-5am), from Basle to Belfast. Quiet, and meditative, what emerges most strongly is an eerie sense of city landscapes as deserted film sets, in which the desolate architecture overwhelms any sense of reality. The only reassurance that we are not in some endless machine-Metropolis is the shadow of daytime activity: a juggernaut plunging through a darkened village, a plague of small birds in the predawn light. The whole thing is underscored by a beautiful ‘composed’ soundtrack, from quietly humming streetlights to reggae and the rumble of armoured cars in Belfast. A strange and remarkable combination of dream, documentary and science-fiction.

In 1974, 30 of those experiments were mounted in sequence - so more or less chronologically - forming a film entitled Elementary Filmhistory. The production of a film requires recording equipment and financial resources, if nothing else. Hellmuth Costard places these basic prerequisites at the centre of his film: using a Super 8 camera system he developed, he films himself as he tries to raise funding for his film project. This creates an unconventional experimental setup, which reveals how the economics, politics, technology, and aesthetics of filmmaking relate to each other – with the ‘great’ Godard being called up as a kind of chief witness.

The Flying Doctors of East Africa (German: Die Fliegenden Ärzte von Ostafrika) is a 1969 documentary film by Werner Herzog about the "flying doctors" service of the African Medical and Research Foundation in Tanzania, Kenya, and Nairobi.

With sometimes painful directness, Valie Export conducts a psychological investigation of the body in this film performance, externalizes an internal state. In front of a police photo showing two children who were sexually abused by their parents, she tortuously cuts into her cuticles until blood drips into a bowl of milk on her lap. On top of the symbolic plane of blood and milk, the physical effect on the viewer of her destructive act of self-mutilation is extreme.

The Knüppels are in trouble with their underage daughter, who has discovered love too early. She has a child with Frank Dreier. But the young people have long since come to an agreement.

The young architect Hannes Cremer wants to forget all professional stress on his grandfather's Black Forest farm. He falls in love with the student Renate, but her romance is thwarted by Hannes' beloved admirer Janine. When Renate disappears, Hannes and his friend Uwe find so many surprises. Recorded on a trip to the Highlands ahead of his participation in Strategy: Get Arts – a landmark exhibition at Edinburgh College of Art – Mommartz’s 8mm film testifies to the Scottish imaginary that preceded self-representation.
