Safety Third

“There’s a fine line between being bold and being a dumbass. And I think Brad did some time on both sides of the line.” Such are the words filmmaker and climber Cedar Wright uses to describe the subject of his new film. Meet Brad Gobright, 27 years old, busboy at a fine dining establishment, dirtbag, college dropout. Gobright’s diet consists of sprinkled donuts, scraps from work, glazed croissants, apple pie, and any and all junk food. And one other thing: Gobright is one of the best and boldest free solo climbers in the sport — who nobody has ever heard of. Safety Third shines the spotlight on Gobright, probably for a shorter moment than he deserves. But it doesn’t matter. His mind is elsewhere, focused on his next free solo.

The Kevin Steen Show: Matt Hardy

If you would have told a 15 year old Kevin Steen that one day he would wrestle Matt Hardy, he may not have believed you. So, lets just call this the Surreal Edition of The Kevin Steen Show because sitting across from Kevin is none other than Matt Hardy himself. Matt is one of the most polarizing figures in pro wrestling today. Some people are huge Hardy fans and some of the "smart" fans hates everything he stands for in wrestling. Kevin explores this strange dichotomy throughout the interview and its seems to be one of the recurring themes. It's also the first time Matt Hardy has opened up, on camera, since his recent battle with personal demons.

Two Meetings and a Funeral

Two Meetings and a Funeral explores Bangladesh’s historical pivot from the socialism of the 1973 Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting in Algeria to its ideological counterpoint, the emergence of a strong Islamic perspective at the 1974 Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) meeting in Lahore. Centred on Bangladesh’s navigation of these two historic meetings, as well as its fight for United Nations recognition (vetoed by China, acting as a proxy for Pakistan), the film considers the erosion of the idea of the Third World as a potential space for decolonialism, liberation theology and socialism. In particular, it looks at how a transnational Islamic ‘ummah’ concept was used against socialist forces.

A Winter Fable

A Winter Fable is a story told by the triptych of video portraits of a wolf, a fox, and a lamb with a score that is composed of music by Coco Rosie, and readings of the original fable by Italo Calvino’s daughter Giovanna Calvino and her friend Isabella Rossellini. The portraits form a triptych that are linked to each other and synced to the score. To help maintain the autonomy of each portrait and yet create an intimate grouping, Robert Wilson and architect Filippo Moretti designed a room with angled walls, built within one of the stables of Villa Panza.
