"MS, Mexico and Me: Aileen's Story" is a health-issue documentary showing one woman's journey from her home in the Isle of Lewis in Scotland all the way to Mexico to get stem cell treatment for her Multiple Sclerosis. It explores Aileen Hunt's life, her illness and working life and the effects that her MS has on her, her family and particularly her husband Simon. It shows their journey together to Mexico to get treatment which will hopefully halt the progression of this illness in it's current state. Raising awareness of this disease and its treatment is a fundamental goal which I wish to achieve with this documentary.

In America, nearly 30% of those exonerated by DNA tests had previously confessed. For more than half a century, the Reid technique was the favored method of extracting confessions out of suspects. This method of slowly building pressure often made it seem that admitting guilt was the easiest way out. But now, a number of police forces are abandoning the Reid technique because of the risk of generating false confessions. We hear from the men and women who have spent more than 20 years in prison for crimes they did not commit. They tell us about that moment when, in the darkness of the interrogation room, cut off from the world and terrified by police officers, they finally said what the interrogators wanted to hear…the moment their lives changed forever.

In my early 20s, I began to recognise the complexity of gender and sexuality. Growing up believing in a concept of sexuality and others’ has set an idea of what I should be. I wanted to be a boy and aspired that when I’m old enough to have a job, I would work and save money for sex reassignment surgery. Making this film was a celebration of the discovery within the self which simplifies acceptance and understanding the fluidity of human desire of interest.

A place of webs and shadows, where time slows and a strange music signals enchantment. The Loom features an eerie soundtrack by composer Abi Fry, produced by recording the otherworldly sounds issuing from an Aeolian harp. The Aeolian harp, an instrument played solely by the wind, was a prime symbol of the Romantic era. It was thought to have been originally invented by Athanasius Kircher (1601-1680) who was also lowered into the crater of Vesuvius, tried to construct a world language, and studied Egyptian hieroglyphics. The Aeolian harp that features in The Loom was made especially for the film by instrument maker James Parry.
