For fans of history, this glimpse of Munich society in the 1920s will be a much-treasured event. The story revolves around an art-gallery manager who puts on a show featuring the scandalous works of a woman artist who committed suicide. He is unjustly accused of having committed adultery with her, and for some reason the authorities decide to make an example of him. He is imprisoned at about the same time that Hitler and the nascent Nazi party attempt the infamous Beer Hall Putsch, and the gallery manager's girlfriend and a Swiss writer valiantly (and unsuccessfully) attempt to get better justice for him. Nobody in authority, it seems, has the courage to take up the challenge of righting this particular injustice.

In the minds of brothers Walter and Wolfgang, the Wall still exists. Walter stands in for his brother Wolfgang at his wedding to Britta. The two also outsmart the devious ex-Stasi agent and turncoat Günther.

Mysterious deaths are occurring in Basel: people are dying out of the blue in public with no apparent cause of death. The coroner, Professor Rüegg, the cantonal doctor Zäslin, and politicians are at a loss and becoming fearful. There are even serious considerations to cancel the upcoming carnival. Rüegg's assistant Andreas Zinstag, who is also dealing with the deaths, lives with his uncle, Jean-Jacques Zinstag, a retired doctor. The latter begins to take an interest in the mysterious deaths. Among his friends, Zinstag develops the theory that people are not dying from a specific disease, but from "death" itself. The Grim Reaper himself is making his presence felt in Basel, as he once did in the Dance of Death.

The commentary uses the perspective of those affected. 50 years after euthanasia in Germany, this documentary reminds us of this once again.

"The Movie" compiles nearly one hundred minutes of Turbonegro video footage culled from various sources: 4 promo clips for among others "Denim demon" and "Get it on", several band features that were broadcasted by German Viva TV during 1997/98, live recordings from the Darkness Forever tour and the farewell show in Oslo, plus lots of obscure on-the-road snippets from Turbo's private archives that were all recorded in Norway, Germany, Spain and USA between 1995 and 1998 at various locations.

Vienna, 1995. Jasmin, Tamara, Valentin, Senad and Roman live near the northern border of Austria. Their lives repeatedly intersect and drift apart. Enraged, he decides to get rid of the ghosts once and for all and chases them back to the graveyard where they once came from. There he meets the cemetery gardener Paolo. The two quickly become friends and decide to go to Spain together. Paaolo even owns a boat... But how will he make it to the sea? Can the enchanted fairy help them?

No one knows, or is ever likely to know how many disabled or handicapped relatives have been hidden from the outside world in attics and basements over the years. In this wry comedy, Basile is an eleven-year old boy living in a rural French town (along with his mother) with his grandparents. He has the usual boyish adventures in town, punctuated with odd goings-on brought about by events which take place in his grandfather's crocodile farm. However, there is a deep rivalry between his grandmother and her wheelchair-bound half-sister, Cecile, who has kept hidden from the world (and her family), and has lived in the attic for decades. Basile eventually feels the wrongness of her situation and feels that he may be the reincarnation of Victor, Cecile's long-lost lover. Eventually things come to a head in a confrontation which provides the town gossips with material for years to come.

The Christmas party at the headquarters of an oil company is harshly interrupted by a fax whose author threatens to blow up one of their oil platforms. Unfortunately not only crew members are on board the platform but some kids that wanted to bring their fathers some Christmas presents, too. Due to stormy weather an evacuation is impossible and the lowering of the bomb experts from a helicopter causes the killing of the head of the team. Now his trainee Lucky is forced to try the defusing of the bombs with the only help of one of the drillers...

An exploration of the revival of Nazi sentiment in Germany is the theme of the five short films gathered together in this anthology.

The river that passes through the mill has dried out. The miller and his daughter are frantic: how can they deliver the huge amount of flour needed for the wedding at the castle? The devil promises to help, but only if the girl follows him to hell; but the girl’s true love chases the devil away and builds a levee. The devil is very angry and whips up a bad storm that destroys the mill… and then proposes to rebuild it in exchange for the girl. The miller accepts the offer, but keeps one nail hidden! A day in the life of factory worker Rudolf S. Trapped in a routine existence, he takes refuge in dreams, visions, hallucinations... and the South Seas.

A private detective is hired in the USA to locate the heiress to a fortune worth millions. When he discovers that she has died of a heroin overdose, he passes off an accomplice as the person he is looking for. But suddenly others also come forward to claim the inheritance.

A woman is longing to make love to her husband once again, but he is always working or tired. At her wit's end she consults a medium, who has a couple of solutions for her problem. The first two solutions fail, but maybe the sweets will help?

They broke into cars, fled from the police, and skipped out on their bills—and that's how two boys became accomplices, soon joined by a third outsider. The involuntary community of this unlikely trio on the run through eastern Germany develops into a road movie about dreams and desires.

Two people love each other when they know they should not. Their parents' and friends' pleas, their social backgrounds and reputation, their careers; everything is used to make them give each other up. Flattery, lies and threats finally drive Frank to despair and Karin to treason. But it is not due to their parents' hatred, nor to any greed for inherited wealth. Rather, the mere conjecture expressed by the authorities is enough to set off a merciless mechanism.

Other essential predecessors of film were those devices that created the illusion of motion by taking advantage of the persistence of vision and the stroboscopic effect, such as the thaumatrope, phenakistoscope or wheel of life, zoetrope or magic drum and praxinoscope and later on, the more sophisticated flip-books such as the kinora and mutoscope.
