Desideri Di Sabbia

This documentary film by Pierluca Rossi recounts a journey to the southern Algerian Sahara, near Amguid, a small Tuareg village renowned for its unusual nearby crater. In the Tefedest massif, with its mythical summit, Garet el Djenoun, on the slopes of a vast sand dune rising to over 400 meters, one can practice an unusual sport: sandboarding, a new technique to try. Surprising speeds can be reached, and participants can familiarize themselves with the equipment of this new sport, perhaps paving the way for new practices.

Images Overtaken by the Wheel of Duchamp

"Duchamp is certainly as complex as Joyce and to do something about him, I tried to dedicate to him this small film poem, using only a few images of images of his work, taken always from books and catalogues (that are made of typographic ink). For example, blackening in the spokes of a wheel, allowing regular slits, transforming it in this way into a true external shutter, that came to substitute for the missing one of my movie camera. A bicycle wheel that becomes cinema and vice versa. For example, his black window that is transformed into a number of tv screens, etc. With Duchamp I think I could make a film for every one of his works because intelligence, irony and alchemy are all proper to the cinema."

Voce dei Canti

On the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth, Carmelo Bene returns to the verses of the poet from Recanati. In this film the most beautiful poems by Giacomo Leopardi (La Ginestra, Il Canto Notturno, Le Ricordanze, A Silvia, L'Infinito ...), but also some passages from the Moral Operettas, as well as the unfinished Project for a hymn at Ahrimane, follow one another with deep and moving simplicity, with a quiet immediacy that causes the void of every other voice: therefore the listenere is ensnared in the pauses, bewitched by the unexpected descents of silence. The voice assumes a dark and ancestral tone in which the words seem to find their original nuances.

Mandala Opus #7 - Poema Dell'Estasi

The chromatic research based mainly on primary colors yearns for the incandescence of red, for strong tonal contrasts, with the gaze turned to an anti-naturalistic, subjective, internalized color, which looks to the Fauves, Munch and German Expressionists but also to Boccioni and Picasso for the metamorphosis of the human figure (here the female body) and his struggle against Euclidean geometry; to the Suprematists and Constructivists, cited in the geometric forms: sharp spiers of piercing light, flashes of lightning, triangles like blades that cut the screen and chase the evanescent bodies in the dark.

Cieli altissimi retrocedenti. Tricologia di Palermo di Salvo Cuccia

The video is inspired by Teicologia, by Antonio Pizzuto, one of the most important and significant authors of contemporary Italian literature. The video re-proposes Palermo through "a study of the walls" in a dimension that is not dictated by the reasoned discourse of hard news, but by a "signal beyond" fluctuating in matter that is neither reinterpreted nor brought back into the light. "My aim was to make the work of this great Sicilian literary man more well-known by means of a work made from languages that are contemporary for us and for him. Further, I aim to continue the perceptive work on Palermo that was started with Palermo, In sospensione, In sospensione (su Palermo), and La cena informale (Salvo Cuccia).
