Andrómedas

María emigrated from Ecuador and for the last ten years has lived in a town in La Mancha, keeping house and caring for Rosita, the filmmaker’s grandmother. Andrómedas observes them as they go about life, focusing on their everyday interactions, while other women pop in with the latest gossip to share around the kitchen table strewn with saffron flowers. The flavours rising from the pots on the stove waft outside to the cats in the courtyard as the sounds of the outside world drift in and the trees look on. However, this delicately balanced world is about to be upset when María asks for a fortnight off.

Isidro Guerra

François Daireaux has the demanding nature of someone receptive to the world, and the infinite patience required by a gentle form of empathy, a powerful but tender gaze at our crazy world. The central character of this film is Isidro. In simple, clear speech, he broaches every question shaking our contemporary world: the scandalous, toxic supremacy of globalized multinationals and financialization, the cultural catastrophe of religious proselytism, the danger of climate change and displacement, the vicious cynicism of overfishing, the folly or ignorance of discrimination on the grounds of gender, race or ethnic origin, pollution, overconsumption and of course the terrifying throes of nature, with its angry storms, floods and earthquakes.

"Your path is determined by everything you do, because there are rules: this is right and this is wrong, and you will be judged. But we have to realize that every person is truly different from each other. You cannot box them in. Not at all. We are much more than that". With this premise, the documentary goes through the life of Alba, a 20-year-old girl who has been living against social structures since she came of age. The conversations with her family, the spontaneous dialogue between her and the director and her day-to-day problems will tell her story by themselves.
