Between the scenes, between the voices. Unseen footage of the future sound of Slovakia.

In 2024, during an artistic residency at Periférne Centrá (Dúbravica, Slovakia), Cristian Estrella filmed the folkumentary „Medzi dolinami, medzi vŕški, po stopách budúceho zvuku Slovenska“ while producing the album "The Future Sound of Slovakia Vol.1" by Mira Tus Manos. But every film leaves scenes out. What doesn't fit due to time, rhythm, or because the main story needs to go elsewhere. "Medzi scénami, medzi hlasmi" is exactly those outtakes: already edited material that no one had seen, divided into two parts —SIDE A and SIDE B— where artists from Argentina, England, France, Catalonia, Amsterdam, New Zealand, and Slovakia speak not only about the project but also about their own artistic practices, personal stories, and internal maps.

Stomach, Thighs, and Ass

Stomach, thighs and ass refers to the various sites of the body where I can inject myself with insulin. Every night and every morning, and before every meal, I check my blood sugar level, record it in a notebook and take my insulin. For two years, I have kept a video diary of every single insulin injection. This four-channel video is made up of a selection of those needles, sometimes in the intimacy of my domestic space, sometimes in public, up close and far away, moments of anxiety and moments of calm, these documented injections capture brief glimpses of the fleeting life that surrounds them. In the process, the viewer pays witness to both the exhaustion of living with chronic illness and the quiet stillness that can sometimes accompany it.

Latche, l'esprit des lieux

Home to the Mitterrand family since 1965, Latche was the former president's base for three decades. Family, friends, and world leaders gathered there for walks, hours of conversation, and some of the defining moments of the century. There, he was a different François Mitterrand, absorbed by the "spirit of the place," far from the trappings of the Republic. An intimate space, Latche was also a political territory open to the world, a powerful diplomatic asset serving the ambitions of its owner.
