The Settler

The plot of the film is based on the story "Khaaiyylaakh" by V. Seroshevsky. In tsarist times, distant Yakutia was a country of prisons and exile, as they say, a prison without bars. No shackles, no chains, no casemates were needed. The harsh climate, the endless taiga, and the huge distance from populated areas were kept better than any bars. The exiles were kept at the expense of Yakut families, they were called settlers (neighbors). Different people came across among them. Settlers with a criminal past disregarded the customs and traditions of indigenous peoples, causing fear and horror in their hearts.

The Mystery of the Wife and the Beast

The reason for the creation of the tape was an amazing find. Artist Lydia Naumova, who worked with Sergei Eisenstein on the film "Ivan the Terrible", has preserved a unique collection of drawings by the master for the third, unfinished series of the film. This collection has not been published anywhere yet. The authors called their film "The Mystery of the Woman and the Beast", based on a well-known sign that appeared to the Apostle John. In their interpretation, the wife is the personification of a high and beautiful feminine principle. The beast is an obedient tool of Satan, called to do great deeds and deceive the living with them. Such an act was the revolution, one of the most powerful and passionate adherents of which was Sergei Eisenstein. And if in the films Eisenstein was irreconcilable and tough, then in his drawings he appears soft, uninhibited, human. Eisenstein's unknown drawings and rare photographs are juxtaposed in the film with fragments from his paintings.

The Reigning

On the day of the abdication of Emperor Nicholas II, the icon of the Mother of God "Derzhavnaya" appeared to the Orthodox world. Historians and theologians believe that this miraculous event cannot be interpreted in any other way than as the assumption of earthly power by the Queen of Heaven to save the Russian land. The Queen is depicted with the Child Jesus on a royal throne, wearing a royal robe with the symbols of royal authority: a crown, a scepter, and a orb. You can worship the icon at the Church of the Ascension in Kolomenskoye.

From the Diary of Cadet K

Grand Duke Konstantin Romanov was the "father" of the cadet corps in Russia. Today, this tradition is being revived. The cadet corps not only train the next generation of soldiers, but also focus on education and upbringing. This is evident from the personal diary that young cadet Vitya has allowed to be published. In the existing cadet corps in Moscow, boys and girls are taught together, preparing them to become worthy citizens and valiant defenders of their country.

Evening Bell

The film is built as if out of nothing, actually growing out of that "web" of human relations on which the world rests. The motive of separation from the roots is present in the film, as well as the motive of restoring the way of life, returning vitality. Yuri Shiller's handwriting is special, it is recognizable in the rhythms of intra—frame editing, in branded driveways and panoramas, where, as it were, disorganized life acquires an unflattering depth, and the finiteness of the time allotted to a person, the nature surrounding him, and the world at home in general becomes physically palpable.

Old Records

Many older people have nostalgia for the hits of their youth. Knowing this, we decided to create a musical film where popular melodies of 30-40 years were played, such as "Splash of Champagne", "Carioca", "Tiko-tiko", "Joseph", "No need to be sad", etc. The film is structured as a conversation between a pop singer (Vera Beradze) and a collector of old records (Boris Shcherbakov). After the selected record is put on the gramophone and a familiar melody sounds, the old collector suddenly appears in the frame with the singer and transforms into a brave Mexican, then a playboy, or a guy from the outskirts of Moscow, depending on the song being played.
