Ire

Ire. Feminine noun: wrath, rage, fury, indignation. Ire is the protest of women against those who oppress, despise and kill. Their eyes, tightly framed, stare at the camera: their stare is compelling. They are the masses and, from the anaphoric statement “I am”, sing out the violence suffered by women. In this film shot in four languages, Valérie Massadian uses the weight of her words and the strength of gate to build a babel call to resistance. Among these striking gazes, are the luminous eyes of a woman carrying in her womb a female child, yet to be born, but already angry. (Louise Martin-Papasian & Claire Lasolle – FID 2021)

To Whoever Wants to Listen

This film features the actors of the improbable milieu of Noise and noisy or extreme music. These artists have made the choice of transgression in a die-hard approach in forms for the least diverse. From the voice, from usual diverted objects or from instruments of their manufacture, they develop their own language and jostle the listener unceremoniously, plunging him into sound universes with unknown topographies. Gathered behind closed doors for the purposes of the film, these nine turbulent French, European and South American artists confront and question their practices. The opportunity for each of us to share an unprecedented performance.

In 2002, serial killer Patrice Alègre was sentenced to life imprisonment for five murders. Two ex-prostitutes give a series of names of presumed accomplices of the killer, among them Dominique Baudis, then president of the CSA. He decides to face the case alone. Around him, it is silence: not an official support of his political family. En corps +

In 1991, Lionel Soukaz initiated his Journal annales, filming his "community of fags, poor people, and drug addicts" confronted with the AIDS epidemic, in 2,000 hours where public events intersect with the intimacy of his daily life. Faced with the impossibility of making a montage that would reflect the richness of this approach, Stéphane Gérard and Lionel Soukaz, for this project, focus on associations, mobilizations, meetings: the collective forms of commitment among the diversity of the fronts of struggle.

Donnerstag aus Licht

Donnerstag was the first completed work of the gigantic seven-opera cycle Licht by German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen. Composed over a span of 25 years and lasting nearly 30 hours in total, the cycle offers up a wide-ranging, experimental take on theology, time, and the nature of the universe. In Donnerstag, the protagonist Michael comes to life in three different guises, played by a singer, a dancer, and a trumpeter as he passes from an impoverished childhood to an artistically successful adulthood and, finally, to the celestial realm as an archangel.
