Filmed in Alberta, Nova Scotia, and the Northwest Territories, the film follows LGBTQ2S+ people and allies as they prepare for their local Pride celebrations. Organizing in church basements, classrooms and around kitchen tables, the various collectives take on conservative town councils that won’t fly a rainbow flag, and bend rules to create a safe space for youth to come out.

HERBARIA × PELICULA: Field Portfolio is the single channel version of a multichannel installation which examines the work taking place at the HAM Herbarium at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario. The Herbarium is located along the edges of the Cootes Paradise wetland on the traditional territory of the Mississauga and Haudenosaunee peoples. Its collection comprises over 60,000 specimens from around the world, though it’s primarily composed of local vascular plant types gathered by members of the scientific community alongside educated hobbyists and amateur botanists. Combining documentary footage of the herbarium, code-generated database animations of digitized specimen sheets, and images of plantlife processed in plant material, the film positions the specific labour of botanical gathering and collection as an image-making practice, in addition to a mode of knowledge production.
Whirlwind is a hand-drawn animation consisting of over 700 ink drawings, rendered during the early months of the global pandemic. The film’s visuals were elicited by unfolding events. The process of drawing this film, frame by frame, coincided with a unique sense of time and space that emerged during the pandemic. The unique flow of time experienced during the first half of 2020 provided a new type of lived experience—proper for reflection through hand-crafted animation.

"If he had come into my bedroom, how frightened I would have been," the Queen wrote in her journal. As a result of his multiple intrusions into Buckingham Palace, the Boy Jones became a media celebrity. Fearful that he might injure or even assassinate the Queen, or kidnap the Princess Royal, the government of Prime Minister Lord Melbourne wanted to get rid of the Boy Jones at all costs.
