The Image You Missed

An Irish filmmaker grapples with the legacy of his estranged father, the late documentarian Arthur MacCaig, through MacCaig's decades-spanning archive of the conflict in Northern Ireland. Drawing on over 30 years of unique and never-seen-before footage, 'The Image You Missed' is an experimental essay film that weaves together a history of the Northern Irish 'Troubles' with the story of a son's search for his father. In the process, the film creates a candid encounter between two filmmakers born into different political moments, revealing their contrasting experiences of Irish nationalism, the role of images in social struggle, and the competing claims of personal and political responsibility.

Steve Hackett - Wuthering Nights: Live In Birmingham

"Wuthering Nights: Live in Birmingham" is a live album by Steve Hackett and his band. The title is a combination of 'Wind & Wuthering', the last studio album by Genesis on which Hackett played, and Hackett's album 'The Night Siren', which was released prior to this live album. Hackett did not play 'Wot Gorilla' from 'Wind & Wuthering', of course; the decision by the other members of Genesis to put this song on the album instead of 'Inside And Out' was one of the reasons for Hackett's departure. 'All In A Mouse's Night' is also missing. Recordings for the live album took place in May 2017 during concerts at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

The Archive

This film is created with traditional documentary techniques - it is compiled from archival documents that include audio recordings by David Drucker, son of the Russian Jews who escaped before the Revolution, and Susan, his daughter. Drucker suffered not during the Holocaust, but later during the McCarthy years, when he became a victim of the witch hunt and was suspected in collaboration with the communist regime, from which his family had run away. Together with Drucker, we witness the paradoxical paranoia that used to infect America in those days.
