Too Fat For Love

If Emma believed everything she read in the media, then she’d conclude that, as a plus-size girl, she was simply too big for romance. Not only are there almost no positive role models for “big love” in popular culture, often there is actual hate. Emma is introduced to the extraordinary Athena May, a self-styled “goddess of love”, who performs a masterclass in plus-size sex at an “erotic emporium” in east London. Emma wonders whether the dating game is any easier for men so she chats to members of a plus-size football league to find out. Despite her self confidence, Emma admits that she still has some hang-ups about her body image so in an attempt to face her demons head-on, she quite literally bares it all. Her journey ends in London, where she discovers the wonders of a plus-size club night - at last, an oasis in an often hostile dating jungle.

There for a While and Then Gone

There For a While and Then Gone is a stereoscopic landscape and cityscape that chronicles the shifting realities of urban space. This film features long audio/visual takes of settings in Brighton, UK; Plymouth, UK; London, UK; Windsor, Ontario; Toronto, Ontario; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Detroit, Michigan. In many cases, the shots seem to have the effect of functioning as “establishing shots”—suggesting that a story is about to unfold. But the viewer soon realizes that the story is inferred in the structure—and the narrative remains largely elusive.

Phantoms Of The Fog

Chris Milewski (A Taste of Phobia, POE IV: The Black Cat) returns with another Italian horror inspired short film — PHANTOMS OF THE FOG! This 11 minute affair consists of a heaping dose of, you guessed it, Italian horror, with a dash of those classic Vietnam War actions flicks churned out around the world during the mid to late 80s. Starring Filmiracle Productions regulars Karen Lynn and Terry Reilly, newcomer Ryan Fargo plays the part of a American soldier wandering around in the jungle for reasons unknown. This time around, Chris has recruited Luca Coscarella (known for his amazing cover tracks, most notably his BURIAL GROUND: NIGHT OF TERROR cover) to deliver a hypnotic musical score. Now, of course it’s not the 1980s anymore, so this film still does contain some of it’s own charm in the mix.

The Jungle Man... Loiya

The film tells the story of Loiya Ngamba, a nature lover who chanced upon an area in Punshilok in Langol hill range in Manipur and created a green space for the local communities. At a time when trees are cut down rampantly in the name of 'development', when 'civilisation', 'urbanisation' has come to mean building blocks of concrete, when forests are being cleared and sold off to corporate houses to usher in 'modernity', this film asks pertinent questions as it tells the story of reorienting man's relationship with nature and building a culture of peaceful coexistence.

Quantification Trilogy

In the sci-fi tinged Quantification Trilogy, Jeremy Shaw’s characters escape the physical world through ecstatic practices. The three inventive, interconnected "para-fictions" that make up the trilogy deal with "Quantum Humans": immortal, cyborg-like entities who use dance as a ritual to transcend the oppression of technology. Using vintage means to craft each mid-length film, the Vancouver-born artist creates a fascinating work about the relationship between the individual and the collective.

Revisiting Samskara

Samskara, the film by Pattabhi Rama Reddy, created a revolution in Indian cinema 50 years ago. Winning National and International awards. It broke barriers of caste and other social taboos, both in the process of production and on its release. 50 years later it still remains relevant and raises political and social questions that need our reflection. 'Revisiting Samskara’ is a journey back in time, in an attempt to piece together the motivation, circumstances and process. It recounts the experience of the cast and crew revisiting the same locations and recounting anecdotes of ‘Predestined Synchronicity’.
