The Wild Hunt

A MODERN MEDIEVAL SAGA, The Wild Hunt tells the story of Erik Magnusson, a young man who decides to follow his estranged girlfriend Evelyn into a medieval re-enactment game when he discovers that she has been seduced by one of the players. As the down-to-earth Erik treks deeper into the game in search of his love, he inadvertently disrupts the delicate balance of the make believe fantasy-land. Passions are unleashed. Rules are broken. Reality and fantasy collide. The good-hearted game turns into a tragedy of mythic proportion... Capturing the culture of costume play and the potentially dangerous intersection of real and made-up worlds, The Wild Hunt is a timely and potent comment on the consuming nature of adopting another identity, even within a game, and the modern yearning for ritual.

Clarkson: Hot Metal

In "Hot Metal", Jeremy Clarkson tells us how everything is slowing down. But is it the same for today's cars? That means the 200-mile-per-hour Jaguar XJ220 taking on a Pagani Zonda. It means pitting a Mercedes McLaren SLR against a Porsche Carrera GT. And it means lining up a Ford GT with the original GT40. The Aston Martin DB9 is here too, taking on the old V8 Vantage warhorses, and just how much faster is the Mitsubishi Evo 8 compared to the first Evo? And just for the hell of it, a Nissan gets riddled with machine gun fire while taking up the new and dangerous sport of 'clay car shooting'!

Overcome

In the Bible, Saul persecuted Christ's church and its followers. Overcome parallels this story. Set in modern day, a young man in high school mistreats anyone good around him, until he has a fateful accident which changes his life. Now he must make amends to all those around him, and try to become the person he knew he should have been the whole time. That’s right: Overcome (Turn Around 2007) has a twin! All they had to do was change some of the evangelical themes to Mormon themes. But also for some bizarre reason, they changed all the names of the cast members, even though they are the same people. Apparently they thought that by changing the names, you would never know this was the same movie.

Why Be Good?: Sexuality & Censorship in Early Cinema

Before the G, PG and R ratings system there was the Production Code, and before that there was, well, nothing. This eye-opening documentary examines the rampant sexuality of early Hollywood through movie clips and reminiscences by stars of the era. Gloria Swanson, Mary Pickford, Marlene Dietrich and others relate tales of the artistic freedom that led to the draconian Production Code, which governed content from 1934 to 1968. Diane Lane narrates.

Welcome to California

The film centers on the strained marriage of Undine Jones, an actress, and John Goodman, a well-regarded composer. The story opens as the two are driving cross-country from New York to California to start over - hoping that the move will renew their relationship. Within weeks, Goodman is back in New York and Undine has begun work on a movie where she is drawn into an instinctively unavoidable relationship with one of the film's crew, Jim Travis. It is through Undine and Jim's connection that the film explores lust, love, intimacy, the past and forgiveness. Traylor's use of the California desert resonates with the search of her characters; in the most barren of landscapes, it finds wildflowers that bloom.
