Sounds Queer

In portraying the three DJs Tama Sumo, Resom & Ena Lind, 'Sounds Queer' considers the question whether female DJs gain diferent experiences than their male colleagues. The portraits give an insight into the subjective environment of the protagonists and their conflicts in this field still dominated by men. The protagonists tell about their diferent paths to electronic music and its impact on their lives. Captured by the camera, the movie draws a fascinating portrait not only of the three protagonists but also of Berlin, Feminism, Nerdity, queer life, the love for music, the aspiration for self-fulfilment and Djing as a profession.

Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall seven photographers from East Germany founded their own agency OSTKREUZ in 1990. The basic idea: a collective, with security in authorship. Soon Ostkreuz became the most important photo agency in Germany. Now, they have 18 members from East and West. One thing unites them: a humanistic worldview. Berlin based filmmaker Maik Reichert accompanies OSTKREUZ since many years. His film tells the photographers' story with and without the Wall.

In the Dead Park

A poet explores his world, a small town on the Lower Rhine in the 1970s/80s, with words. His son, a filmmaker, now confronts the written words with contemporary images of that area that look like they come from the past. In this superimposition of ambiguous linguistic images with architectures, monuments, streets and parks a view of the inscribed mentality and history of the former Federal Republic of Germany unfolds. The images are as permeable as Dieter Liewerscheidt's poetry in which philosophical, pop-cultural and personal elements are intermingled.
