Fitness California - Wie man die extra Meile geht

Faithful to the motto "Exercise until the end of your life", people work out at the "Fitness California" gym in Freiburg. Bernd Fleig, Mario Sabatini and Adolf Seger, all stars of the wrestling scene in the 1960s and 70s, can always be found here, flexing their muscles regardless of their age. Embellished with music and images from the Californian fitness boom, the film traces their careers as athletes and gives a loving insight into the family-run gym that stood up to the big fitness chains.

Risiko Extremwetter: Gewitter, Hagel und Starkregen

The weather is becoming increasingly extreme, and the damage it causes ever more massive. The reason for these changes: Climate change is causing air temperatures to rise. For every degree of warming, the atmosphere can absorb seven percent more water vapor. As a result, precipitation and thunderstorms are becoming more frequent and intense, and hailstones are becoming ever larger. The consequences are fatal. Extreme precipitation, hail, storms, and thunderstorms destroy cars, roofs, crops, and livelihoods. In Germany alone, the German Insurers' Association has calculated total damages of €5.7 billion for 2023.

Rorscharch Tests (Montage 3)

WARNING: In the '80s of the last century, I was about 12 years old and my mother was worried about my psychological disorders with mild paranoid symptoms. On the advice of a friend or a doctor, she sent me to consult at the Decroly center in Lille. This was my first contact with a shrink. During the first session she presented me with a series of "Rorscharch tests". Then, during the second session, I made her listen to my first sound tinkering made on an audio cassette recorder modeled after the jingles of the first free radios. She found it great. When it was time to go to the psychologist for another session, I wandered around music equipment stores and visited art galleries. After the third session and an unjustified absence, the consultations stopped: the psychologist, annoyed by my carelessness, sent me home, and it was only much later that the doctors declared me "schizophrenic."

Capsized

Enlisting her friend, the pair set off to navigate the Isle of Lewis’ intricate system of lochs. But finding the right kit can be a challenge for Emily. When outdoor shops only stock technical clothing up to a size 16, how is adventure possible for the 45 percent of women in the United Kingdom who wear larger sizes?

Bologna, 24 de junio

I wrote this text while I spent one summer afternoon in Bologna, sitting in front of an empty monumental cinema screen installed for the Il Cinema Ritrovato film festival in the city’s Piazza Maggiore. The subject of the text is the empty cinema screen itself. It is a first approximation of a writing practice performed in real time, in front of a specific phenomena and place. For its final form as a sound piece to be played in the setting of a darkened screening room, the original text was read aloud by Andrea Van Eyck in Madrid on October 4, 2024.

Our Boys. Russian Volunteers in Ukraine

A documentary by the Dossier Center tells the story of Russian volunteers who have joined Ukraine's side and are fighting for its liberation. In Russia, these individuals are labeled as terrorists: they have crossed into the Kursk and Belgorod regions armed and engaged in battles with the Russian army. These volunteers made a choice that severed ties with their families and friends. Dossier journalists traveled to the frontlines to explore what drives these Russians to take up arms against their compatriots. This film is not only a chronicle of the war in Ukraine but also an exploration of deep moral conflicts. It is a story of traitors, heroes, and their tragic futures.
