That Anxiety Has a Mise-en-Scène

"Young contemporary history and young tumors resemble each other — both parasitize my prime years." The malfunction of both state and body passes endlessly through the MRI scanner under the diagnosis of a prologue without a main plot. A single film never begins; instead, opening scenes pretending to be from different films repeat schizophrenically. This anxiety, named the invasion sense, constructs a complete reality through unexecuted directives — unrealized wars, uncured illnesses. The film paradoxically addresses a present in which, even without a main plot, anxiety itself constitutes a world, suspended between fiction and reality.

Staff Waltz for the Shore

Haerim visits her grandmother’s coastal home dreaming of the sea, only to find the beach of her childhood paved over and inaccessible. Her inability to reach the water mirrors her own profound sense of displacement. An awkward reunion with her grandmother and aunt, the sweet yet alienating taste of canned peaches, a suddenly overturned umbrella - these scattered fragments make up her (un)ordinary journey. Through this empty summer, the film questions the very meaning of place and belonging.

The Last Mermaids of Korea

The phenomenally resilient sea women of Marado Island, at the southernmost tip of South Korea, are like no one else on the planet. Six women aged in their 40s, 60s, 80s and 90s have lately been joined by a solitary young male diver, Min-Jong. Most of the women are well beyond 60. They may stumble walking on land, but underwater, they are transformed into graceful swimmers who haul in twice their bodyweight in seafood every day. These are Korea’s traditional Haenyeo: female divers who hold their breath for more than two minutes to depths of up to 20 meters. They make their livelihood combing the seabed for culinary treasures for restaurants in Korea and Japan: kelp, sea cucumbers, conchs, and, most prized of all, abalone.

Talk to 鬼

A disabled person, abandoned by family, society, and the system, suffers through exploitation and abuse. When his last means of survival, his welfare benefits, are stolen through fraud, he takes his own life. After he throws himself off the building's rooftop, the building is abandoned due to terrifying rumors of the 'Wheelchair Ghost.' The building owner's desperate efforts - involving YouTubers, the police, and various shamans - all fail to drive the spirit out. The entity is revealed to be more than a single angry soul; it is the collective fury of all those neglected by society. Salvation arrives in the form of a disabled shaman who hears out the ghost’s words and faces his lifetime of anguish. The shaman understands his pain, performs a ritual of solace, and concludes with a final ritual to appease the spirit - staging it directly outside the home of the social enterprise CEO who defrauded the man. The marginalized voices that society chose to ignore are still being heard.
