Self-Revolutionary Cinematic Struggle

Gakuryu Ishii, who is a professor of film course at Kobe Institute of Technology, suddenly disappears after falling into a mad state driven by his own idea of "self-revolutionary movie struggle work". His assistant professor Takeda and assistant Tanimoto are perplexed by the "work text for inner consciousness revolution aimed at expanding the imagination and recognition of the individual and strengthening the will" that he left behind, but try to turn it into practice with the students. By practicing, the students get lost in a labyrinthine world of expanded imagination and expanded consciousness, just like in a film. At the same time, Takeda pursues the shadow of Ishii.

From the music of Tunisian composer Amine Bouhafa, Japanese filmmaker Naomi Kawase crafts a story of two young people ruminating on existence and life in a city. This short film is part of the 2x25 Project of Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Awards. The project commissioned 25 composers to compose a short piece of music, after which 25 filmmakers made short films that are the ultimate symbioses of music and cinematography, fitting completely within the DNA of the festival. The result: 25 exceptional films where the music inspired the form, narrative and texture.

Takarazuka Star Troupe 2023 production. The story is set in France in the latter half of the 1780s. Cracks are starting to appear in the rule of the once-flourishing Bourbon Dynasty. Uprisings by citizens burdened by excessive taxes are a common occurrence throughout the country. Ronan's father was shot to death by officers and his farmland taken away. He makes a desperate vow to take revenge for his father and to have his property returned. Leaving his hometown and heading for Paris, he encounters the young revolutionaries Desmoulins and Robespierre at their stronghold of Palais Royal. Having come into contact with their ideology, he now starts to put his hopes on the coming of a new era.

Hokusai Up Close: Paintings from the Freer Gallery of Art

In 2018 Japan’s NHK television network was given unprecedented access to the Freer Gallery of Art’s collection of works by Katsushika Hokusai so they could film the details of paintings using a state-of-the-art 8K video camera. The resulting documentary is hosted by actor Iura Arata and features commentary from the James Ulak, former curator at the National Museum of Asian Art, and Tim Clark, former curator at the British Museum. The film’s intended premiere in April 2020 was canceled due to the pandemic. We are proud to finally screen it. YOKO TAKAHASHI EVANGELION Ultimate Live - Tsuki Juuya

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, YOKO TAKAHASHI, known for singing the theme song of the TV anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion", performed a live concert "YOKO TAKAHASHI EVANGELION Ultimate Live "Tsuki Juuya" at Zepp Shinjuku (TOKYO). It is part of the "EVANGELION KABUKICHO IMPACT" project held at "Tokyo Kabukicho Tower," which opened on April 14th. This is her FIRST solo performance based on the "Evangelion" series.
