A story about a man named Max Wind, who celebrates a men‘s evening with his friends under the deck of a ship and leaves his pregnant girlfriend Nele at home. A storm is rising and the atmosphere below deck is tense. As Nele goes into shock from a lightning bolt hitting her house the situations start to escalate.

Manfred Kaufmann's first film reports on tensions which may arise from the contradictions between collective and individual feelings. He works with subtle and psychologically perfected indications which explain the symptoms and illustrate the reactions. But this film is also a vehement attack on bourgeois feelings and the resulting behaviours. He shows character traits which use masks to simulate emotion as well as those which are ready to remove their masks in order to let feelings take effect. (Herbert Holba)

On the 70th birthday of famous piano virtuoso Hannes Westhoff, a celebration is to take place at the patriarch's estate. For this occasion, his second wife Anne not only invited Westhoff's three sons Max, Fredrik and Gregor, but also their mother, Westhoff's ex-wife Renate. While Anne tries to maintain a friendly atmosphere, old conflicts resurface among the family. With tensions already high, things take a turn for the dramatic when son Max reveals shocking news.

The couple Antonia, or Toni, and the former star chef Rufus run the country inn "Kupferkanne" together. They keep getting into arguments about it. When Toni's mother wins a wellness vacation for two to the Baltic Sea in a competition, Toni decides to go along. Rufus is delighted, as it means he can finally work in peace on turning the "Kupferkanne" into a Michelin-starred restaurant. While on vacation, mother Heidi falls in love with Ivo, a former acquaintance of Rufus from his star chef days. She wants to start a new life with him and, to Toni's horror, is prepared to put her share of the "Kupferkanne" on the line.
