O Mensageiro das Trevas

A group of scouts set out to camp in a cursed forest, where an ancient legend tells of Boni Coveiro, an evil spirit that haunts the place. One of the team members, obsessed with solving the story told by his grandparents, performs a satanic ritual with the aim of summoning and controlling the supposed cursed entity. However, little did he know that the legend was true, and that his disbelief would lead him to awaken the fury of a demonic being thirsty for revenge. From that moment on, terrible deaths begin to occur among the team members, with nothing they can do to stop the massacre.

Letícia Parente was a pioneer of video in Brazil, and In is one of her earliest video works. It depicts the artist entering a closet, suspending herself from a hanger, and closing the door. Parente used video as a political tool to protest the military dictatorship in Brazil, and to comment on the mass torture committed by the government. Much of her work concerned domestic space and its association with conventional roles to which women were expected to conform. Several videos by Parente transform daily household tasks into forms of resistance.

Late on the Planet

A boy feels the shadow of an irreversible environmental catastrophe drawing near. In the quiet of his backyard, he chooses to spend the last day before the world transforms beyond recognition alongside his mother. There, he witnesses the signs — the unrest of animals, the uprising of plants — while confronting the imminence of loss: not only the loss of a future he once imagined, but also the fragile bond that ties him to this woman and to this place. Guided by poetry, Late on the Planet is a meditation on the weight we give to the idea of finitude and on our precarious relationship with the more-than-human world. Inspired by the novel of the same name by Leonardo Piana.
