In the past, Bajiao was only used as a ritual circumambulation route, "a saint road" in the eyes of the Tibetans. Now it's developed into an old shopping district with colorful Tibetan houses lining the street, and the ground paved with man-made flagstones, preserving its ancient look. The film also shows the social conditions, customs, and spirtual lives of the Tibetan inhabitants.

A documentary on the turbulent life and final years of Rui Itō (伊藤ルイ), the fourth daughter of the thinker Noe Itō (伊藤野枝)—who was murdered alongside Sakae Ōsugi (大杉栄) by the military police—and herself a civic activist. Director TSENG occasionally began to record the daily life of her mother, out of the need of completing her documentary assignment at school. The films presents a mother's persistence when facing difficulties and her love for her children. In the meantime, interactions and conversations between mother and daughter are revealed spontaneously.

Nobuyoshi Araki said the camera was Kamala, and Godard said, "All you need for a movie is a gun and a woman." Is that so? The author takes a close-up shot of a man's body, presses a microphone against his thighs and cheeks, and records the sound of jolly and beard rubbing. Her desires go beyond mere fetishism. When Hull's cheeks are rubbed with fragments of his grandfather's ashes, which he disliked because he disperses them, this shooting act even begins to show revenge on the masculine nature itself. On the other hand, the author's feelings for Hull and his outbursts are inevitably settled in the film, where the sexuality theory of the heterosexual dilemma is also beautifully visualized.

Action of the character in the film is expressed by monochromatic still pictures, in fine, time is in cut state. Though color scenes inserted in the film have flowing time, we can't easily recognize that the scene is moving, because of the fixed shoot. I expressed the fixed time of still pictures, and the eternity and the timelessness, in this film. (The eternal flow of time in fixed scene, or time which is kept stopping.)

This is a work I created in 1991 as an attempt to become a "master" on "Yuji Miyake's Shrimp-Bending Master Heaven." Unfortunately, the show ended before I could take on the challenge. It was a fun year that taught me the obvious truth: the meaning of a work lies not in leaving it as it is, but in showing it to an audience. I'm grateful to all the staff and performers.

Showa 38. In those days when golden badges gleamed on lapels, the Shoryu-kai reigned in the east and the Akutsu Federation in the west. Positioned between them was the old-school Yoshida-ikka, which fell victim to a surprise attack by the Shoryu-kai that disregarded the code of honour. Witnessing this, the Akutsu Federation sent Katsuragi (Hitoshi Ozawa), assistant underboss of the Hyodo-gumi, to try to bring the Yoshida-ikka under their umbrella first. Takayama (Ken Tanaka), the second-in-command of the Yoshida Family, could not bring himself to agree to a 4:6 split, even though the proposal came from his sworn brother, Katsuragi. Meanwhile, Ōba, the second-in-command of the Hyōdō-gumi, attacked the Yoshida Family to prevent Katsuragi from taking the credit. With his boss murdered, Takayama, a long dagger in hand, quietly rises to face the challenge alone…!

A painter who has lost the meaning of life due to war recalls a story from his childhood in a brief moment when he tries to commit suicide. The child picks up the doll that was left in the field and hides it at the base of a tree by the river. However, the doll is swept away by a flood, and the child who is trying to find the doll loses even an umbrella. After the flood stopped, the child went to the stream... He found a small fish in an umbrella hanging from a tree branch, took the fish in his hand, and released it to the stream...

A student film made by Shinya Takeshita at the Osaka University of Arts. This short references the popular jidaigeki series Mito Kōmon, a drama that ran for 42 years on the Tokyo Broadcasting System. Takeshita portrays every character by himself. He would recycle this concept a year later for Mito Kōmon tai Gojira.

This film is an authentic documentary showing the marital and sexual norms among the Hani (Yiche), an ethnic minority of about 20,000 people, living in Yunnan Province, South West China. 25-year old Puji is a married man with a family, who nevertheless regularly leaves his home overnight to visit his lovers and spend the night with them, before returning home in the early morning hours. Such sexual behaviour is a frequent custom among the Hani and many men and women have extra-marital relationships.
