10957 Moons and 30 Elliptical Years is an eight-part collage of events, objects, thoughts, and sensations drawn from Lai’s personal moving image archive, assembled between 1991 and 2021. Describing herself as a modern-day ‘flâneuse’, Lai interweaves diaristic video fragments, with found footage from film and television, as well as exhibition and performance documentation.

Other perfect light bulbs are doing their jobs in keeping the city bright, while the "abnormal" and "imperfect" light bulb finds a unique way to shine and its purpose in life.

The short film mainly talks about the dream Pirate who travels around in different housing estates in Hong Kong to look for the dream photon. On the way, he meets a child who has a relationship with him and encounters the threat of the dream eater. Will it save him or continue to escape?

In 1994, the Hong Kong government suddenly launched an initiative to tear down "rooftop dwellings", even though it had actually accepted their existance for many years. The Housing Authority regarded them as private property and denied owners the opportunity to apply for public housing. Now the government has ordered these 40,000 dwellings to be removed, without offering fair resettlement terms for the residents who had moved in after 1982. Video Power recorded the negotiations before some of these houses were torn down in Mongkok.

End Time and The Trajectories of Ancestors (2022) is a video (machinima) essay on the historical fragments of Montana and Native American history. Going deep into the American soil conveyed in the video game Far Car 5 (2018), the work manifests the juxtaposition between religious survivalism on the nuclear threat and End Time, the digital landscape and archive of Montana, and the historical records and testimonies of Native American’s history and movement. This intersection can be conceived as a detour in thinking and questioning the universal issues on colonization, land, race, violence and the appropriation of culture and history in the video game.

The story of a female director who spends an hallucinatory night in quarantine in a hotel. She recalls her former lover and creative partner Liling, out of nowhere. And then, she is surprisedto find That Liling is in front in her, they pour out their hearts and past experiences, once the story comes into their view. The next morning, the hotel reception calls her.

Tse Man Fu collapsed at home and his daughter filmed the entire process of him receiving treatment. This process also inspired the daughter to take a new look at her divorced parents, her stubborn grandmother and how their three-generation family has been coexisting.

After the marriage, Min is very pleased with his wife, but she is not happy with her. Fen's tactics of 'three obedience and four virtues' and 'crying and hanging' are unable to make Min change his mind.

I have been a fervent walker of the city and a detached collector of sights and sounds. Most of the outdoor sites in this work no long exist in current maps of Hong Kong, or they have never existed as practical, concrete dwellings.
