From the Life of One Village

A film about a village with the poetic name Svetlana, which is located two hours from St. Petersburg. It was built by volunteers more than twenty-five years ago for people with disabilities of physical and mental development, doomed to special psycho-neurological boarding schools of a closed type. Many of them, before they got to the village, could not connect even two words, they sat at home, within four walls. Svetlana avoids the words "disabled" or "sick", preferring to call such people "guys". They do not do miraculous healings and special trainings here, the diagnosis is not important here. Here the children simply create the conditions for a normal human life. Healthy and sick communicate on an equal footing, work together, put on performances and run a joint household. Disabled people do not feel sick and flawed. Everyone is equal here. The shooting of the film lasted about 13 years.

Симфония органа

One of the symbols of musical Moscow, the heart of the Great Hall of the Conservatory, is the historic organ of Cavaillé-Coll. It was created in the 19th century, and was first heard in 1900 - at the World Exhibition in Paris, where it represented Russia and won the Grand Prix. A year later, the instrument was installed at the conservatory. Since then, he had to go through a lot of events that undermined his health: wars, revolutions, flooding ... Restoration, carried out in 2014-2016, revived the creation of the French master Aristide Kawaye-Call to life. The film, created on the basis of unique filming inside an organ, demonstrates the restoration process and offers to look at the instrument as a living organism - a breathing giant with a thousand voices.

Ray’ok

Video mysteria «Ray’ok» is part of the exhibition of the same name. The title of the work sends the viewer to the folk theater, Rayok. This is a wooden fairground box with the views of other countries inside and the latest world news. In fact, such a theater with paper panoramas was a prototype of TV and the Internet. On the other hand, the spelling of the name «Rayok» refers to a network slang in which the anglicisms interlace with Russian words. Six fictional characters in turn perform small musical numbers, running away from the viewer. In the end, they gather in the last frame on an improvised forest scene.

Kolokol

The bell is the only musical instrument used by the Orthodox church, and its connection with the Russian spiritual culture is incredibly strong. In 2016, popular techno-producer and DJ Philipp Gorbachev had been trained by a bell-ringing master and later became the bell ringer at the St. Nicholas Church in Aksinino. Being influenced by Peter Mamonov, Moscow-based electronic musician believes in the spirituality of the Russian dance floor. This film is an attempt to reflect it through the prayerful experience of the modern bell-ringer, who hides the red mechanic jumpsuit, Gorbachev’s usual clothes for sets, under the monastic robe. Following Philip, the camera tries to find and capture in detail the fragile atmosphere in which the sound of bells becomes a source of divine revelation and turns people into brothers and sisters.
