Italian comedy starring Peppino De Filippo, Mischa Auer, Dolores Palumbo and Virginia Belmont. Rosa Auricchio (Dolores Palumbo) and her daughter (Virginia Belmont) inherit a large fortune which they use to purchase a luxury hotel, then learning the hotel has never been successful. They meet a knight (Mischa Auer) who specializes in relaunching businesses. He fills the hotel with fake guests in order to attract real ones, and hires a broke baron (Peppino De Filippo) to relaunch the hotel.

The porch, among other things, is presented as an architectural solution capable of facilitating meeting and communication.

Renato and Gedeon have just opened a nightclub in a disreputable area of New York, triggering the hostility of Gionata, a gang leader and owner of the nightclub across the street. Helped by the hoods of his gang, Gionata uses a couple of tricks to try and ruin his competitors. To begin with, he induces his friend Barbara, a vamp, to perform in a hot number in Renato and Gedeon's joint, so that the police intervene and close the club. The move fails, so Gionata decides to have Renatino, Renato's son, kidnapped by his men, which proves another flop. To make matters worse for Gionata, Michaela, his own daughter, has fallen in love with Renato, and sides with him and his partner...

Marinette, the wife of Mario, a sympathetic hobo, is disgusted with the farm and runs off to Paris without husband or child. The tenacious husband sets off in pursuit, accompanied by the baby and a cow that's a bit cumbersome. The unfaithful woman wanted to become a star. Mario and his crew go from music hall to nightclub until finally, a classified ad brings back a repentant Marinette, just in time to prevent Mario from running off with a prostitute, herself eager for a change of scene.

La rossa

Amelia, a beautiful and irrepressible girl known as "La Rossa", returns from Paris to her country, a small seaside town in southern Italy, where her father is the lighthouse keeper. To her father and her fellow villagers, she gives the impression that she is married to a rich gentleman. In reality she is only the friend of Pierre Dupont, an elegant Parisian bandit. Dupont, however, actually gives the girl a certain economic comfort. Later Pierre arrives in the country incognito, being wanted for a large theft of jewels in Paris, and Amelia, her lover and accomplice, helps him to hide.

The Two Truths

The young Loris is undergoing a trial for killing his girlfriend Maria Luce. According to the reconstruction of the facts, the young man would shoot his mistress making it then end up under the wheels of a tram. On the remains of the woman's body, however, there is no trace of a gunshot wound and, during the trial, the accused, who appears hypnotized, refuses to answer. The arrival of the ex-lawyer Cidoni, who takes the place of the defense, overturns the thesis of the prosecution and instead demonstrates that the victim was not a naive girl as had been believed up to then.

Giovanna

This short is set in the early 1950s in a small textile factory in central Italy (Prato). Giovanna and her fellow female workers decide to enact a protest against the direction of the factory's dismissal plan, by occupying the factory and continuing to work until the proprietor cancels the dismissals. None of these women can really afford to lose their jobs, as it is the only income in the family. All workers receive moral and material support from their families, apart from Giovanna, who bravely endures her husband's disapproval. Almost all the women hold out for thirty-five days in spite of the proprietor's attempts to break their resistance. At first he blocks the road to the factory, then he cuts off electric power to increase their isolation; finally, he tries to convince them to accept the dismissal of at least a smaller number of them. But the women overcome these obstacles, determined to resist...
