Spring is a time of love, lightness and endorphins. But the spring of 2020 turned out to be very different, isolating us from each other. The Vesna project tells 14 stories about people who, like all of us, found themselves in quarantine, but were able to learn something important and valuable from this experience. Moscow promoter Andrey Algorithmik, who self-isolated himself in the Powerhouse club he founded; Tbilisi gallerist Giorgi Rodionov, who started recording a podcast about dreams; sex blogger Alina Shikut, who launched an online course about accepting your body; a Director who went to a remote village, and a famous photographer who takes pictures of empty Moscow-14 documentary sketches add up to a General portrait of an optimist in quarantine: after all, spring is also a time of renewal.
Many myths, stories and traditions are associated with the lime tree, going back to the Middle Ages, Celtic times and as far back as Ancient Greece. In Russia, the story goes, that on discovering his lover's infidelity, landowner Pavel Kazantsev was so heartbroken that he could not forgive Anastasia's disloyalty and buried her alive. He planted a lime tree to mark the spot where she lay, and years later villagers still go to the tree to ask Anastasia for help, particularly in affairs of the heart. Marina is the wife of a successful businessman also coincidentally called Pavel Kazantsev. One day, after a family quarrel, Pavel takes Marina to their country house where she discovers that Oleg has a lover - Anastasia. Marina soon learns about the legend of Anastasia's tree from the local villagers. The coincidence with names is disturbing, but a worse discovery is still to come.

A soldier returns from the army with his young wife. A local heartbreaker and a drunkard, an imposing man who does not care about anything, takes a fancy to her. He draws the young man into his company, and one evening the wife finds her spouse drowned in a puddle. As well as a reconstruction, the film is a portrait of a tireless fighter for justice, and a sketch of corrupt and merciless Russian politics. Interviews with Politskovkaya are intertwined with archival footage and conversations with family members, colleagues and other political activists.
