Cahā

“Cahā” is an intimate, fly-on-the-wall documentary that captures the first encounter between two immigrants — one Indian, one Bruneian — who find unexpected connection over tea in a London teahouse. What begins as a casual exchange unfolds into a profound conversation, revealing the bittersweet realities of sacrifice, adaptation, and identity. As they sip cahā (tea in Marathi, or “desire” in Hindi), their stories challenge immigrant stereotypes and reveal the lingering impact of the colonial legacy of tea plantation. Through this simple ritual, the film offers a subtle glimpse into the immigrant experience in contemporary Britain, highlighting how tea becomes a bridge for understanding, forging an unspoken bond that transcends borders.

Huw Edwards: Unmasked

A new Sun documentary into vile presenter Huw Edwards' sickening behaviour shows how he sent a series of controlling and abusive messages to a young man, who was sending him sexual images in return for payments of tens of thousands of pounds. The exchanges reveal Edwards's secret Jekyll and Hyde character as he switches between repeatedly telling his victim that he loves him - before viciously abusing him in foul-mouthed tirades. Edwards also gives the young man instructions on using PayPal and a Monzo bank account so he can send him cash.

Out of service? The Gerhard Schröder story

Gerhard Schröder has always been a polarizing figure. Even on the occasion of the former Chancellor's 80th birthday, Germany continues to grapple with him. The Social Democrat remains steadfast in his friendship with Vladimir Putin, despite Russia's war against Ukraine. Schröder also refuses to relinquish his position at Nord Stream 2 AG. As a result, his entire political legacy is in question. In the documentary, reporter Lucas Stratmann confronts former Chancellor Schröder with the criticism and accompanies him from Hanover to China.

Ulía

The limits of the landscape are always the same, because they do not understand political borders, but geographical features. A line that separates the sea from the sky, mountainous waves that cut across the sky. Regardless of where you are, these limits follow the same pattern. This film proposes as a starting point the use of these limits to create a sort of landscape collage, to reconstruct the image of the landscape by combining space and time from the capture of the image; from the present, and not from the subsequent construction in post-production, hence the key role of the analogue image. Windgeist

The artistic documentary Windgeist is about the former kite and windsurfer Achim Stuzmann, or Stuzi for short. For 30 years, he dedicated his life to water sports and traveled the whole world. At the age of 50, he embarks on a journey that would change his life forever. Since then, Stuzi has lived with a severe disability that challenges him every day. Despite years of therapy, he has to accept that he will never be able to kitesurf again. But one thing has not changed: Stuzi still lives at one of the most popular kitesurfing locations in Germany. The documentary deals with the loss that the former extreme sportsman is still coming to terms with today. He is caught between holding on and letting go of the old Stuzi in a life he never thought he would live. But he doesn't give in so easily, as Stuzi soon sets off on his journey again. Windgeist is a patient portrait of a flourishing life in a sobering reality.

Children’s Game #47: Chalk

Shot in black and white in homage to Helen Levitt, the pioneering photographer of children chalking the streets of Harlem in the late 1930s, this film records individual acts of creation by children from two schools local to the Barbican Centre in London, including students with physical and neurological diversities. Marco goes for horseshoe-shaped patterns, before expressing his self in a spontaneous spatter; Jean-Luc builds oneiric form upon form; Charlyn’s creatures emerge in clear, expansive lines. For Ayesha and James, the chalk is not just a drawing tool but also a curious object for fingers to explore, like they do with the texture of asphalt or the powderiness of their marks. Sensation and imagination imbue every scratch of white on black these children make.
