Imbalance 257

It is the typical stance of this generation, with its sensitivity and impulse, to try to blur the boundaries of all existing criteria and truths, to turn seemingly rationality into absurdity, and to mock at the given reality and the "legal" matters: either the systemor those who drag on with their lives under the system. I owe my courage to the restless adolescence that compels me to tear away any existing rules which block the way to our inner reality. Imbalance is an experience naked to us, an experience that might not be popular among Chinese college student today. It restricts us, transforms us, and forces us to expand and to change. It is the formula of a chain of events, the decease of adolescence, the edge of personal relationship, and the intermedium between bliss and despair.

Tamako's Tale

Elusive memories flash in the back of his head. Visualising the people and landscapes as they are there, as casually as they are there, should be a difficult task, just as the protagonist struggled with the writing process. However, the film succeeds in vividly depicting the subtle atmosphere felt only in primary schools and only in junior high school, thanks in part to the fine performances of Watanabe Sayaka and her friends, who brilliantly play everyone from primary schools students to preparatory school students. There are no particularly dramatic episodes, but after watching the film, you will feel nostalgic for all the people in the film.

Professional Golfer Toraki

The film is hard to understand because it is spoken so fast, but if you listen carefully, you will find that the dialogue is packed with so many detailed gags that you will wonder if they are as good as they could be. The action scenes are so powerful and full of no-frills action that you'd think a major Japanese film would go as far as this. The director's spirit of wanting to do all kinds of things and his entertaining nature carry the film through to the end without stalling. The film's lovable momentum also covers up for some of the story's lapses. Incidentally, the pro-golfer Toraki of the title is a character who appears in only one scene and has nothing to do with the story or theme.
