Up Here Kids

Graffiti in it origins is a performance. It is inherently site specific, but wide angel lens on the iPhone prevents the photographer from documenting the work in its entirety. The commercialization of graffiti focuses only on the surface where the graffiti is painted and leaves out the context of how to artist got there, how dangerous it was, and the amount of time they were able to spend with the work before the risk of being arrested was too high. This film aims to show the viewer an intimate look at the process and the performance that is often out of the conversation. Up Here Kids gives an intimate look into Tennessee's graffiti culture through beautiful cinematography, interviews and storytelling. It focuses on the process and what motivates a handful of the notorious artists in the scene.

Summer in the Forest

Like countless others Philippe, Michel, Andre and Patrick were labeled 'idiots', locked away and forgotten in violent asylums, until the 1960s, when the young philosopher Jean Vanier took a stand and secured their release - the first time in history that anyone had beaten the system. Together they created L'Arche, a commune at the edge of a beautiful forest near Paris. A quiet revolution was born. Now in his 80s, still at L'Arche and revered by some as a living saint, Jean has discovered something that most of us have forgotten - what it is to be human, to be foolish, and to be happy.

Lou Hoover's Home Movies

Former First Lady Lou Hoover’s home movies may be the earliest color home movies ever taken at the White House. The reels provide glimpses into the Florida fishing trip taken by Herbert and Lou Hoover in late January 1929, when he was President-elect. This would be the last vacation before assuming the Presidency on March 4, 1929, and before the burdens of his office began to wear on the First Family. Other reels capture playful scenes of grandchildren and vacation trips of taken by the Hoovers’ sons, and touristy images of Washington, DC, historic sites. Scenes of the White House gardens reflect Mrs. Hoover’s concept for the exterior appearance of the garden plots. The final reel of film shows the first color images of President Hoover in his morning routine of tossing a medicine ball with others. This activity would eventually become the game known as Hooverball.
