常世の恋人

One knows how to love and how to hurt. Art students Naoya and Kono. They are different types but like each other. They ask Reiko, an art model who comes to their drawing class, to be their model for an extra-curricular production. The two are simultaneously attracted to her shadowy side, but while Kono falls straight for Reiko, Naoya worries that he is unable to portray her true self, and begins to search for a veil over Reiko's true face. Kono receives pocket money from his companion's lover through mother-son-like conversations. Naoya visits Reiko's house and takes off his coat in front of the front door. The accumulation of small details creates quiet pauses that not only highlight the outlines of the characters, but also give the film an elegance and tranquillity that is probably a quality of the director.

FILM THE PSYCHOMMUNITY REEL.1

The live concert movie centers around the last day at Yokohama Arena during his first tour "HIDE OUR PSYCHOMMUNITY - Hide no Heya e Yokoso". Hide's ideas and stage gimmicks were constantly changing and developing even during concert tours. Another surprise about this video is that in 1993, Hide already foresaw that there was going to be a hardware that allows viewers to enjoy films in multi-angle mode, and because of that idea, the clip for "Doubt" was filmed in multi-angle mode. That film footage was shelved till now that finally DVD carries that feature.

The Leading Hand

Signals like the moon, streetlights like stars. The camera warmly captures the winter night roads, and the director's eye is also that of a director looking at two people who are more than friends but less than lovers. When Sakai chooses what is most important to him without hesitation, i.e. when he accepts the responsibility of loving her, the period in which she "had chosen" to leave him gives the story a deeper depth. A film that uses unrealistic motifs but depicts the birth of happiness in a sufficiently realistic way.

Come Over by bicycle

Shoutaro suddenly says he might quit university and take over his family's bicycle shop, and returns to his hometown. Shoutaro's best friend, Yosuke, and his girlfriend, Kyoko, are at a loss as to what to do. The film is a fresh take on an ordinary scene in Tokyo. The fuzzy pain of a man and a woman who have lost their best friend and their lover is expressed in a refreshing and poignant way. The director's skill in giving life to the bicycle as a prop and letting it tell the story of Shotaro's existence and the delicate relationship between Kyoko and Yosuke shines through.

The Face of 'Juku

Postwar Shinjuku. In this city where confusion and rebirth intersected, there were two legendary men who were known to everyone. They were Mitsugu Kano and Noboru Ando. Many people, including Ryu and Hoshiken of the Gurentai, admired these men who were not affiliated with any organization and lived proudly in their own way. Kano's reputation as a man who never used tools in a fight because of his extraordinary prowess, and who never turned tail when push came to shove, no matter who the opponent was, even reached the ears of Jihei Tsumura of the Tsumura-gumi, which was in charge of Shinjuku at the time.
