Good morning Citizens

On weekdays at 8am, Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD) protests at the subway platforms in Seoul. The protest demands policy and budget for disabled people living in the community. SADD’s year-long subway action, which began in December 2021, delays subway trains during rush hour, greets incoming trains at the platform, to call out to the public. On a busy commute, on a subway that doesn't move, some are silent, some cheer, and some swear. SADD claims, "We want to move around together, to be educated together, to work together, and to live in the community together." Their repeated protests and actions on subway platforms have started to draw reaction from the government, the politicians, the media, and the citizens.

Through a visual metaphor, the film draws parallels between jellyfish and their emotional turmoil. Like jellyfish drifting in the currents, the two women find themselves gradually pulled apart, overwhelmed by the relentless waves of societal expectations and prejudices surrounding same-sex relationships in Korea.

The Bufferzone

When the Chitwan National Park was established to protect wildlife, the Tharu people who lived in the area were forced to move out. They were forced to settle in villages on the outskirts of the park. Meanwhile, rhino horn, which became more valuable than gold, led to ruthless poaching, and the rhinos were driven to near extinction. The Nepalese government mobilized the army to protect the rhinos, and it was successful in doing so. However, the national parks provided limited habitat for the growing rhino population. The moment lingers with me even after I return to everyday life. As an artist, I decide to create a new work inspired by the anthill, only to realize that my sole visual reference is a short, hastily recorded video taken on site. In an attempt to reconstruct that vivid memory, I begin searching online for images of anthills...
