O—————K

The title draws on Nietzsche’s comment on modernity as an experience of radical relativization in the cosmos: 'Since Copernicus man has been rolling from the centre toward X.' I became less interested in 'X' representing nothing or negativity, and so I made it crooked, with the letter 'K.' Which brought to mind 'being OK' as a state and a goal: we are familiar with oblivion (X), we read about it every day. How to get to 'OK' is a more challenging and interesting problem. There are five em dashes between O and K — a state of abeyance, like living while holding your breath. — Vijay Masharani

The Afterlives of Displacement

A short ethnographic film following Chin refugees in West Delhi's Uttam Nagar, where the border doesn't live at a territorial line but inside a document — the UNHCR card, the asylum-seeker classification, the paper that determines who you are allowed to be. Filmed across church gatherings, household visits, and the ordinary bureaucratic waiting that structures daily life, the film asks what it means to inhabit a city where belonging remains provisional. Made as a student ethnographic project at Ashoka University.

TOUT CE QU'IL Y A SUR NOTRE SOL

Tidying up the artist studio of her father, a painter who died in 2020, Clara Chapus discovers three forgotten rolls of film inside a metal box. Cows in the field across the way, a teapot held aloft, the mauve of the heather, a fire in the fireplace, bygone figures and gestures: the filmmaker sees again the sites of her childhood and the gaze of her father, who explores the film medium as a new artistic possibility, as he continually juxtaposes the large and the small, the domestic and the mythical, the human and the non-human: all that there is on our soil.

I Know Who My God Is

A documentary that explores the role of faith within the LGBTQ+ community, delving into how belief, spirituality, and identity intersect in deeply personal and often complicated ways. For centuries, mainstream religious institutions have positioned themselves in opposition to LGBTQ+ lives, shaping a narrative of exclusion, judgment, and silence. To say that the treatment of LGBTQ+ individuals by many orthodox traditions has been “unkind” is to understate the pain, rejection, and loss countless people have endured in the name of faith.
