Applecalypse

A rookie scientist at a stem cell research institute witnesses abnormal activity from a mouse which has been administered a developing drug at the laboratory. The mouse has become extremely ferocious and injures him by biting him in the hand. Although the mouse is destroyed and discarded according to the supervisor’s orders, he feels something is wrong when the supervisor and his colleagues dismiss the incident and stubbornly refuse to investigate the cause of the abnormal behaviour. Although he raises concern about the safety of the product to human bodies, the supervisor keeps denying it while claiming that there’s no defect in their research, whose goal is to create human happiness. It’s clear there’s a hidden agenda with dire consequences for him and humanity.

Idyll

The music video for A.G. Cook's "Idyll," directed by Daniel Swan, creates a surreal, digital dreamscape. It features abstract shapes, glowing textures, and a soft pastel color palette, blending organic and synthetic elements. The video utilizes rapid cuts and rhythmic pulses, creating a hypnotic visual experience that mirrors the song's electronic sound. Swan's use of geometric forms and smooth, flowing animations evokes a futuristic, artificial landscape, reflecting the tension between nature and technology. The result is a mesmerizing, otherworldly journey through a meticulously crafted digital world, perfectly complementing A.G. Cook's hyper-modern music.

The Ruins

A drawing of an ancient bathhouse in a French travel book to the Middle East sparks a visual poem, inspired by the Arab poetry tradition of "standing by the ruins". The ambivalence of the five-hundred-year-old image gestures towards enduring capitalist and colonial power dynamics. Pleasure and pain, seduction and domination, archives and ruins, histories of sex, and histories of empire, all commingle in this essay film. What transpires is a web of visible and invisible threads where homosexuality in the Middle East today seems to be enmeshe
