Leave it to Fruit Chan, another staunchly grassroots auteur, to make a documentary on Xi Xi's career. Chan sought out renowned critics and writers to discuss Xi Xi's works, starting with 1979's My City. He also juxtaposes photos of a changing Hong Kong with readings of her writings, and even playfully inserts characters from her stories into the film.

Wong Kwong, a ninety-year-old man called Ice-Cream Uncle, keeps pulling a trolley with a load of dozens of kilometers and walks a long way to sell his ice creams everyday. He never minds working hard or thinks about retiring. All of his life shows the traditional spirit of Hong Kong, which has set an example for the young people. Although he has never been able afford to buy a Rolls-Royce in his entire life, this laborer has gained the respect of many teachers and students, as well as the neighborhood.
A hidden gem produced at the height of the Hong Kong left-wing cinema. The Japanese army wants to force resistance leader Cheung (Bow Fong) to appear by capturing his family. Cheung's wife dies and, despite the protection by the nurse Yeung (Chu Hung) and other villagers, Cheung's daughter is captured. In the end Cheung's subordinate Lee Fu (Jiang Han) regroups with the resistance and saves the day, defeating the enemy and rescuing everyone. This film clearly references wartime productions in the mainland of China, with elements such as the Japanese taking hostages, resistance guerilla fighters, and the contrast between ‘heroes' and ‘villains' made obvious through camerawork and make-up designs. Street scenes shot in Macau merge seamlessly with studio scenes to recreate northern Chinese towns. War epics were not a strong suit of Hong Kong cinema. This film takes inspirations from Euro-American spy films and pays attention to character development and the mise-en-scène.
Yeh Wei-fang, a rich young lady, flirts with her suitors and hopes it would make Shi Rongsheng, the cousin she loves, angry. Wei-fang knows that Wei-ling likes Wen-ping, but she shows intimacy towards him. Another guest, the antiquary Prof Ho Chi-hua, arrives, he is infatuated with Wei-fang. Wei-fang shows zeal for both, who in the end quarrel and fight. Wei-fang finally declares her love for Rongsheng under the pressure from Wen-ping and Chi-hua, who had a fight over her. Rongsheng's evasiveness proves weak for Wei-fang's quest for his love.

In 1974, John Thompson, an American, went to Taiwan, then Hong Kong, to study Chinese and the ancient silk string guqin (7- string zither). After 45 years he plays on, still inspired by the beauty of the music and by the culture that produced it. And In 2010 he was the only non-Chinese among 14 masters the Zhejiang Museum had invited to play in a concert featuring guqins from the Tang dynasty over 1000 years ago. With an indepth interest and insight in both Western and Chinese classical music, John Thompson and his musical journey is an embodiment of East-West cultural exchanges and mutual appreciation.
