Or the Cuco Will Come and Eat You

"Go to sleep child, go to sleep now, or the Cuco will come and eat you" cautiously warn parents to their children so they go to sleep on time and behave. "El Cuco" is about the faceless, folkloric monster of Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese cultures that scares disobedient children. Inspired by the aesthetics of old horror movies, it's shot entirely on 16mm black and white film. The Cuco doesn't look a certain way, and it's known by other names depending on the country. Every child who hears the lore imagines it differently so that's why it looks each time it appears on screen.

Boondockin’

Join independent film maker, former comedian and, somewhat sadly, Bigfoot believer Scott “Squatch” Herriott as he, his girlfriend Cory and his pooch/good pal Charlie drive across the U.S. in their Class C camper/truck in search of National Forest and BLM land that is still relatively remote, beautiful AND free to stay at for awhile. Not only do they dock in the Boonies but they also stop and visit some bizarre sights along the way…including part of Hitler’s toilet and a Bob’s Big Boy in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere. Oh, the Majesty and the Madness…Boondockin’!

Empire Valley

Empire Valley contemplates cinema’s ability to transmit a confluence of times through landscape—whether that time be geological, personal or political. Situated within Tsilhqot'in territory in central British Columbia, the film addresses the way in which a landscape is carved out and altered in order to suit particular economic conditions. Further than solely contemplating the environmental, economic and social implications of this site’s history, this film is an attempt to grapple with the aesthetics imposed on the landscape by agricultural practices, erosion, and the traces of colonial ideologies.

Nivhek

Under the name Nivhek, Liz Harris (Grouper) maps richly detailed inner worlds where enigmatic vibrations and voices glide dimly in and out of the void. Double album After its own death / Walking in a spiral towards the house consists of opaque assemblages of Mellotron, guitar, field recordings, tapes, and broken FX pedals. In pacing, palette, and poignancy, these sides rank among Harris' most stark, primordial work: fragile, feverish, ominous, and otherworldly. Accompanied by visuals from experimental filmmaker Takashi Makino which were made exclusively for live shows of this album.
