Socotra, the Land of Djinns

The island of Socotra lies in the Indian Ocean between Arabia and Somalia. It was known in antiquity times for its Phoenix and Rukh birds. Frankincense and myrrh trees grow freely, as well as the dragon's blood tree proved by Egyptians, greeks and romans. The first commercial flights, at the start of this century marked, for almost a couple of decades, the end of Socotra's century of isolation. The current situation of civil war in Yemen has isolated again the remote island. In the film, a group of camel drivers heads to the secret interior of Socotra before the rainy season and they explain by the fire ancient stories of djinns and giant snakes.

My Sexuality Is An Art Creation

Postporn was born in the 90’s with Annie Sprinkle as a response to conventional pornography and its incomplete and utilitarian representation of women sexuality. Postporn is taking an important place in Barcelona from 2000. The documentary “My sexuality is an art creation” talks about persons and collectives who are actually working and creating postporn in this city. Based on 7 interviews the documentary tells the causes, motivations and peculiarities of this scene where the discovery and the search for new forms of sexuality representation go visible in a result: art and politic activism can’t be separated. “My sexuality is an art creation” works as an illustrated cartography of DIY postporn videos, performances documentation and public space interventions.

Messages from Western Sahara

Stories of resistance, words of pain and suffering, tales of life and death, and in particular of dignity, that show the reality that the Sahrawi people experience in Western Sahara. This documentary gathers the testimonies collected during a journey to the occupied territories by an international delegation headed by the mayor of Donostia/San Sebastián, Juan Karlos Izagirre. Over the course of five days they held over twenty secret meetings with human rights activists, from home to home, constantly under watch by the Moroccan police. Despite living under an occupation that has lasted for almost 40 years, the Sahrawi people maintain their identity and culture. A revolutionary act, a struggle to defend their right to exist as a people.
