S.S. Belgenland: World Cruise 1927

" S.S Belgenland World Cruise (1927) is comprised of 16mm home footage from a wealthy Chicago citizen William Olson aboard the luxury ocean liner S.S. Belgenland. Filmed from 1927-28 on a cruise around the world, this footage is one of the first examples of an amateur travelogue. Rediscovered in 2015, the footage was restored, and a new work was commissioned by the Red Star Line Museum. That work, by FES composer Peter Vermeersch, was re-edited “entirely according to his own understanding and with a healthy disinterest for the documentary and historical value of the images.” " - Kevin Dong

Mastodon: Crack the Skye 10th Anniversary Tour Film

Hey Beautiful Jerk had the great pleasure in the creation of Mastodon’s “Crack the Skye” 10th Anniversary Tour Film. Working closely with drummer Brann Dailor, HBJ re-imagined the narrative from the legendary concept album as an animated film that takes viewers on a journey across the cosmos with a telepathic, paraplegic boy as he astral projects across time, space and the spirit world. Working from the original concept album artwork by Paul Romano, HBJ and its team of illustrators and animators developed an animated sci-fi film that features fantastic worlds for every song of the album. Illustrator Skinner collaborated once again with HBJ providing a series of mind altering concept designs of Rasputin, Satan and a slew of creatures and demons that populated the “Crack the Skye” film. Creative Directors Gina Niespodziani and Mark Szumski led the team but also handled all editing, CGI and composting.

Almost Sanskari by Neeti Palta

Come and laugh at the complicated inner workings of a comedian's mind as she shares a very personal journey from childhood to never growing up. From her not-strictly-traditional upbringing by her mom and army dad to buying condoms for her older brother, being an awkward teenager to being an equally awkward adult, arranged marriages to society's expectations from her that she gleefully fails to meet. - it's all part and parcel of what makes Neeti "Almost Sankari". It's a show that raises some pertinent questions about accepted norms of society through hilarious observations and gentle leg-pulling. Her tongue-in-cheek-humour, keen observations and biting sarcasm cuts across all age groups and genders. It's a show you can watch with your parents, spouse, friends, neighbor, distant relatives or even your in-laws. Heads up: This show is for those who are a little bit nice. But also definitely a little bit naughty. Now you understand the "almost" in the title?
