Two bodies, or rather, two women hiding in the darkness. Sometimes they light each other up, sometimes they play hide and seek in the half-light. Both fireflies and butterflies, they start surprising nights choreographies that we only see in fragments. At the end their bodies get closer, in the dark, hesitating, sometimes backwards during a lively and retained dance. Yes, that night she danced, but did they really meet? The real film still has to be done.

In this documentary on the dangers and prospects of globalization, Nobel Prize winner Joseph E. Stiglitz takes us on a world tour that begins in Gary, his hometown in the suburbs of Chicago. During this journey, from Ecuador to India via Botswana and China, Stiglitz explains that globalization is not just synonymous with environmental disasters or increased pressure on wages and working conditions. There are indeed countries that have mastered globalization and managed to turn it to their advantage. Governments aware of the potential dangers of unregulated markets, attacks on the environment, and the limits of free trade can opt for new paths that could benefit hundreds of millions of people around the world.

"This is a rarely seen cameraless film, made using the pinhole technique by applying light directly on the unexposed emulsion. Cote explores celluloid with color filters and different intensities of light as if expressing his most intimate and vital self. The flashes of luminosity seem to be signals of connection, maybe hope, inside one’s inner darkness." - Mónica Savirón, Museum of the Moving Image

Nouba plays on the aesthetics of video clips and evokes a remote and exotic reality, further displaced by an unterritorialized music. The word "nouba" is borrowed from Maghrebi Arabic "nuba", which in classical Arabic is sais "nawba" meaning «in turns» or «to succeed each other». This word has integrated the French language through Algeria’s colonial army describing the Algerian infantrymen’s music before shifting again to become a synonym of partying. This title is also a hommage to Assi Djebar’s film La Nouba du Mont-Chenoua (1977), the first algerian feature film made by a female director which key protagonist is an emancipated Algerian woman.
