A Fantastic Body

Sunbeam gets surgery and is brought back to life. A doll of Sunbeam, a cute and chaotic personification of the sun invoking the trans Roman Empress Heliogabalus, is split open, remade and implanted with collected ‘resonant’ objects - a rib bone, a lock of hair, teeth, pharmaceutical hormones and a peach pit for a brain. Performed by the artist and filmed in her own bedroom and kitchen, the intimate film explores a domestic imaginary for restitching transfeminine histories, a communion with the dead and the sensual reinvention of a body with no end.

Don't Cry

Mustafa and his son Chafik are traveling through the foggy roads of northern Italy. The nine-year-old, unaware of where they are going, glean some information from his father's stops and meetings. The man, tired and worried about something still undefined, barely speaks to him. After a journey marked by silence, foggy landscapes and desolate cemeteries, a call will put an end to his anguish. Thus, near an abandoned village, far from prying eyes, little Chafik will discover the painful truth hidden in the trunk.

Everything That Connects Us

All That Connects Us is a documentary on the theme of transmission. It addresses the universal questions of our roots, our history, that of our family, the bond that unites and sometimes separates. How can we build ourselves and what can we pass on to our children when part of our past is unknown to us? This film is the story of the passing of the baton from a mother with her baggage as a Korean adoptee, to her teenage daughter, at a time when identity construction is at its peak, a pivotal and delicate period of breaking with childhood.

11 Underground

In 1984, eleven miners entrenched themselves underground to protest for better working conditions in the mining village of Almaden in southern Spain. The strike, deep within the toxic mercury mine, lasted for eleven long days, during which the whole village showed its solidarity with the men protesting underground. The mine was the heart of Almaden, around which everything revolved – until it longer existed. The mercury mine was closed for good at the beginning of the 21st century. As a consequence, the area has experienced mass unemployment and slow decline.

One-Way Ticket to the Other Side

A series of deeply personal short films centered around the debut album of the musical duo Pornographie Exclusive (Severine Cayron and Jerome Vandewattyne). It is a cinematic, musical, and surreal journey that follows two stoic outlaws as they wander through a world suspended between end and beginning, dream and reality. Their road trip leads them through strange places and encounters with lost souls, immersing them in both absurd and philosophical reflections. Shot in a guerrilla filmmaking style with a warm, grainy look, each poetic tableau of their adventure weaves together the different segments of this unique anthology directed by international filmmakers. In these parallel realms, it is not the story that inspires the music, but rather the music that gives birth to the stories.

Boalândia

The documentary shows the cultural resistance in the peripheries of Brazil, where people fight for visibility with the means of art. They occupy cities and raise their voice against discrimination, police violence, racism and homophobia. For three years, the filmmakers worked and lived with the collectives and activists, accompanying them in the Amazon rainforest, at protests in the capital and in the subcultures of Brazilian metropolises. With their own films, music and performances, the protagonists fight for attention —in the midst of an uncompromising and highly accelerated social reality.

Postcard (Or, from afar, you are a mirage)

"The palm trees on the reverse are a delusion; so is the pink sand". This line, taken from a poem by Margaret Atwood, lights the path traced in "Postcard". As the years go by, landscapes transform, take on new meanings, and hold onto joys that will never be regained. The sea and the beach, once stages of happy summers, romances, and encounters, will turn into concentration camps or centers of detention and torture. This occurs across different times and places. In this piece, I embark on a journey through some of my works that explore the relationship between testimony, spaces, and time, engaging in dialogue with the beautiful film directed by Alejandro Segovia in 1972.

Sumergidos en Atlántico (Minidocumental)

"Sumergidos en Atlántico" is a mini documentary that we started filming at the beginning of this whole project. Combining it with the EP was not easy, and there came a time when we decided that the best thing was to stop and dedicate all our energy to Atlántico. But when we found out that we were going to play at the Beatout, we wanted to take it back and document how we experienced the concert and the days leading up to it. This is the result of putting together the footage from before, during and after an entire stage. With it we close what we opened with Atlántico, and we face next year with new ideas and projects.
