Genesis

Genesis documents a year-long performance during which a large piece of fabric that codifies and contains the genetic information of the film director is woven by his mother on one of the first computers of history, the Jacquard loom. In the tension between the loving gestures of a mother and the automatic movements of a mechanical loom, this art film gives form to a reflection on technical reproducibility, the materiality of data, and on the interplay between biological and computational life.

État du langage

Language is a visible organic material. This substance - detached from its emitter- has the particular feature of being transparent and of allowing a passage through. Language as a material unfolds in its own environment and on its own scale, in a back and forth motion between its different states: either as a magma or as hard hollow crystallized shapes. During the process, a prosody emerges from this matter which attempts to manifest, to extract and to define itself. Examining these attempts is the issue.

Heavy Haulage in Action- A Steel Giant On The Road

50 meters long, 6.5 meters wide and 4.5 meters high - a 130-ton giant, consisting of a drive station for conveyor belts and transport vehicles, has to be brought to the site 13 kilometers away. The route: an obstacle course! Power lines lead to a forced stop. Tight curves and steep descents require filigree work. A real tough job for heavy haulage professional Randolf Peters. Schleenhain in Saxony, around 40 kilometers south of Leipzig. Here, lignite is mined in open-cast mining on a large scale. If a digging point is exhausted, the heavy equipment must be relocated to the next excavation site. Since the drive station with its enormous dimensions does not simply fit on a normal low-loader, Randolf Peters relies on two SPMT (Self Propelled Modular Transporter), so-called self-propelled vehicles, which are driven by radio remote control for the transport.

When You Are Close to Me

A world of silence and darkness. A world of things unspoken and unseen. It is the world in which deaf, blind and deafblind people spend their entire lives. But it is also a world full of fantasy, joy and an excited sensitivity towards outside stimuli, touches and vibration. The immense power of physical contact with and the closeness of caregivers is an energizing element in this humanist documentary exploration of the world of people with vision and hearing impairments. The filmmaker patiently observes the lives of patients living in the specific conditions of institutional existence and opens up her observations to a wide range of possible forms of communication and sharing, while also showing an understanding for the hard work and absolute exhaustion of the caregiving personnel.

One researcher who has been intensively involved in this field for some time is the Hungarian Katalin Karikó; Ugur Şahin brought her to BioNTech a few years ago. The "m" in mRNA stands for "messenger," and RNA for ribonucleic acid. mRNA transmits the information for the production of an antigen to our cellular machinery, which produces proteins.

Langobardi - Alboino e Romans

This movie is an innovative docufilm about history of Lombard with an interaction between cinema and historical disclosure. It is focused on the story of Alboin, the first Lombard king arrived in Italy with his population and the foundation of the village of Romans. This village was an important military garrison of the Duchy of Friul and also it is important for the archeological finds (one of the largest Italian Lombard necropolises). On 551 A.D. after a great victory against Gepids, the figure of Alboin as hero strongly emerged. Years of glory and deeds followed him until his fateful fate in Verona on 572 A.D., when he was killed after only few years of reigns, then his myth was born. In the midst of the events of this legendary king will be shown, innovative images and strong emotional impact, where you will see how the Lombard people lived in Romans, an important crossroad of the Friulian plain where men and women developed a village that still exists.
