The son of the local pharmacist Gerald O'Connal, Brian is in many ways a typical boy, who dislikes school if only because of his run-ins with the nervous schoolteacher, Miss MacDonald, and who tries to catch gophers with his friends, Artie and Forbsie. His best friend and protector is slightly older Jonathan Ben, better known as The Young Ben (as his father is referred to as The Ben), who is highly regarded as a problem by those in town who see themselves as the moral authority if only because of The Young Ben's association to The Ben, the town still keeper and drunk. Brian's life takes a turn when his parents have to leave town temporarily, while Brian stays on his Uncle Sean's farm. That stint leads to a series of events which make Brian see life around him through slightly older and wiser eyes.

Two young women, Lisa and Susan, meet and fall in love at a tennis club in Rome. The two lovers disappear into the privacy of the nightclub and its lounges with carpets and goldfish in the glasses. But their harmony is disturbed by the arrival of a man: Susan cheats on Lisa with Fred. Between jealousy and bottles of Johnnie Walker, the triangle explodes in a luxurious apartment. More elegantly, we will move from the lounge to the police station, where the officer of service will make a duty to lecture them. For the trio there is only one alternative: collective suicide in a classic car, they launch themselves at the bottom of the cliff in order to free themselves from the weight of an misunderstood existence. No one kills anyone: death is a deliberate choice in the face of the tragic absence of an alternative in a world that only condemns.

K-Z is a 1972 Italian short documentary film directed by Giorgio Treves, his study of the slaughterhouse in the centre of Turin as an allegory of a German concentration camp. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short.

Vacationing in a small town, a frantic Daniel Corban shows up at the local police station, declaring that his wife has disappeared. Corban imperiously demands that the easygoing police inspector drop everything and find his missing spouse. Within a few days, a woman claiming to be his wife shows up, but Corban insists that he's never met the woman before.

John Baker emerges as a fine runner while in High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and then continues setting records at the University of New Mexico. His ability is world-class, and after receiving his university degree he accepts a position as a coach and physical education teacher at Aspen Elementary School while continuing to train (with the 1972 Olympics in sight). He becomes very popular with parents and students alike, for seeking ways to involve all his students, even those with an apparent lack of ability. Learning that he has terminal cancer he contemplates suicide, but instead chooses to dedicate himself even more to the kids, helping even the handicapped to participate, and co-founding and coaching the Duke City Dashers, an all-girl AAU track team. He hopes his "last race"...already beating the odds by a year, will not end before seeing this team win the national title.

In 1978, Northwestern University film professor Dana Hodgdon created an experimental film based on a phonetic alphabet. He recruited 45 students and faculty members to join him in speaking a single phoneme, which he filmed on 16mm color film. Each phoneme had an example that was an ideological loaded term: revolution, theory, language, Marx, Brecht, and so on. Then, using an optical printer, he excerpted the phonemes and edited them into words and sentences.
