La Paz del Futuro

La Paz del Futuro is a film about the personal, political and artistic journey of Janet Pavone, an American muralist who joined the Sandinista revolution Nicaragua of the 1980s. Janet and her fellow muralists are today invited to restore their most monumental work almost 25 years after its completion: the Quiabu mural at the Esteli military base. Showing different historical moments through extensive use of archival materials and new footage, La Paz del futuro paints an "on the road" portrait of what remains of a series of murals and a revolution, and at the same time proposes a reflection on public art, politics and the passage of time: a look to the past from the future.

In Ruins

Two women sustain a world where care is in ruins. Gladys, from her everlasting confinement in the house where she works as a live-in servant. Ima, in her everlasting waiting on the seashore for the next ship breaking its nets. Both have unrecognised jobs in which duties invade them until there’s no room for their own lives. It doesn’t matter what time their phones ring. Gladys can never answer, Ima is obliged to answer at all times. They both have to leave their families behind. Spaces that are work, work that is about houses and houses that are not always homes. The memories of their experiences are intertwined in a sensory story that leads us to a question: whose hands are the ones to change the situation?

Laramie, Italia

In 1998 in Laramie, Wyoming, United States, Matthew Shepard, a twenty-two-year-old student, is attacked by two peers in an act of a homophobic nature. Dying, he is transported to the hospital, where he dies a few days later, shaking public opinion overseas and beyond. Starting from a true crime story that really happened, director Martina Arrigoni transposes to the big screen the rehearsals of the play "The Seed of Violence - The Laramie Project" by Moisés Kaufman and the Tectonic Theatre Project directed by Ferdinando Bruni and Francesco Frongia, produced by Teatro Elfo Puccini, where eight actors bring about sixty characters to the stage, bringing to life the words and thoughts of the Laramie community as they question their own responsibility for what happened to the boy, in a rehearsal journey that evolves to the present day in Milan.

To Meet Esther

Marianna, a Russian-Jewish girl born in Germany, proudly presents her hand-drawn family tree to the class: she openly and happily acknowledges her ancestry. When she arrives home, however, Marianne is forced to hide the drawing from her parents, who fear anti-Semitic attitudes and prefer not to talk about her Jewish roots. The same evening, the drawing is accidentally discovered by Eva, a journalist and blogger who experienced a similar trauma in her childhood... Anna Ehret's debut feature film draws attention to the ever-present problem of anti-Semitism and related fears.

She Town

She Town is a moving image piece and short publication produced in 2022. The work is influenced by the women of Dundee and their role in shaping the city’s industry. Former mass employers, the Jute mills and Timex factories, employed predominately women workers and earned Dundee a reputation as a matriarchal city. Today, most factories and mills are long closed and many women now work within the care and service sectors, with often lesser working conditions. Rooney charts the trajectory of Dundee’s matriarchal culture and examines the legacy of working-class women’s leadership within a city still yet to recover from deindustrialisation.

L'Orologio di Romolo

A ten minutes short film that takes its inspiration from a real letter (from the collection “Lettere di condannati a morte della Resistenza italiana”) written during World War II’s Nazi-Fascist regime by Romolo Iacopini, a captured and life sentenced partisan by the German SS squadrons, to his mother Maria. Protagonist of the film, the woman in the fictional story takes on the task entrusted by the son in the heartfelt real letter: collecting the man’s wallet, held at a police department, and watch, left to a priest. Shaken by her loss, the woman is now deprived of the thing she holds most dear, but slowly realises it is somehow still living...
