Liza, once a notorious mob boss, has always been strategically planning the career of her only son Yan. It is however never in Yan’s intention to follow her mother’s footsteps - instead he aspires to be a filmmaker. As a mob, Yan is highly incompetent, and his disappointing performance already messed up a simple drug deal. Liza desperately tries to save her most sought-after son, but she ends up, along with her son, breaking into her neighbour Mr. Chan's home. They accidentally steal the head of Mrs. Chan, whom they assume was murdered by Mr. Chan. They recklessly decide to blackmail Mr. Chan, and everything goes out of control. Will Liza and her beloved son survive this crisis?

When the Mongolian Salitai raids the Shaolin Temple, the head Buddhist priest of the temple, Won-kak, meets by chance the mute So-sun and the Mongolian Il-gong. They shave their heads and enter the temple. Buddhist priest Won-kak gets the Buddhist soldiers together and tells them to protect to the end the national treasure, the golden Buddhist statue that is at Shaolin temple. The mute So-sun works as the lowest servant at the temple and learns how to fight. One day, evil men come and steal the gold statue. So-sun sees this and tells Buddhist priest Sio but the ringleader of men is none other than the Mongolian informant Il-gong. So-sun ends up on the run due to scheming of Il-gong. After training with the Pungdo-hyub fighting technique, Il-gong turns the Shaolin Temple into the bandits' headquarters. So-sun searches out the 'Hwa-gong Secret Fighting Technique' scriptures and trains under it to defeat the Pungdo-hyub fighting technique.

Morris the Tailor seeks to get even with Gilbert, Earl of Chen who has stolen a set of expensive clothes from him. Morris bumps into Princess Jenna and the two fall in love at first sight. But the king voices his opposition since Morris is from the grassroots. Gilbert suggests that Jenna's aunt adopts him as her foster son. Zhijian is soon arrested for teaching anti-Jpanese propaganda to his students and it is due to Xiangmei and Liu qing's efforts that he is released. From this,Zhijian learns of Xiangmei's difficulties and feelings of love grow between the two friends. The war ends. Xinming, minus an arm, returns to his wife and mother. Seeing his friend reunited with his family, Zhijian leaves.

Mang-wol, a master of martial arts, has doubts about the life he has led. Taking Yong, the son of Pak who he had nearly killed in a fight, Mang-wol disappears. As time passes, Mang-wol teaches Yong martial arts. Yong becomes an adult. He goes into the city to get medicine for Mang-wol. Yong runs into Nan-si, a woman of the Shaolin training hall, who takes all his gold. Yong is unable to defeat Paeng's fighting skills but Mang-wol saves him from his predicament. Paeng knows that Mang-wol is the enemy who killed Yong's father. Paeng searches out Mang-wol. Yong deceives Mang-wol and goes to see Nan-si. Yong becomes the manager of the Shaolin Hall but Paeng cruelly beats him up and Yong returns to Mang-wol. Mang-wol tells Yong the truth about his past and dies in a fight with Paeng. Yong practices the new fighting technique he's developed and fights Paeng.

However, the kids’ enthusiasm and unique perspective of life eventually inspire him to rediscover why he loved filmmaking in the first place.
