Sorelle Senza Nome

The first recorded testimony of a group of Brazilian Catholic women who, in the 1970s, embraced the emerging movement of Liberation Theology — a force that reshaped the Church in Latin America by aligning faith with social justice and the struggles of the poor under authoritarian regimes. Pressured by the Brazilian dictatorship and in conflict with Church hierarchy, they broke with the institution, took a vow of anonymity, and fled into exile in Rome, escaping aboard cargo ships. Today, the fifteen women who remain from the original group agree, for the first time, to share their story.

Laura Citarella for Sicilia Queer 2025

Trenque Lauquen's Ezequiel believes he is keeping on searching for Laura in the Argentine pampas, but the landscape confuses and disorients him, becoming increasingly jagged and disconnected: a radio that cannot definitively tune into a station. Editing cuts swallow up her world, bringing to the surface an archipelago of cinematic universes (from L’avventura to Stromboli and La terra trema), and they generate a fata morgana, capable of shortening distances between pampas and Mediterranean landscapes, between real and fictional vision, between the adult’s disorientation and the childhood’s innate and hilarious wisdom. Cinema as the art of disappearance that always leaves a trace, yet another indelible trace of one of the most important contemporary filmmakers.

Hamlet - Teatro Regio Torino

With its lively dances, ghost scenes and touching arias, Hamlet was Ambroise Thomas’s single great success of the Paris Opera, remaining in its repertoire for decades after the 1868 premiere. On the opening night, the title role was sung by a baritone, as has become the custom ever since. With the rediscovery of the original score in recent years, it transpires that Thomas originally scored the role of Hamlet for a tenor. In this new production of Teatro Regio Torino, the tenor John Osborn is the tormented prince, singing the celebrated monologue “To be or not to be” (“Être ou ne pas être”). Sara Blanch sings Ophélie, whose pyrotechnic aria in the mad scene is a pièce de résistance for a coloratura soprano. Under the musical direction of Jérémie Rhorer, the production is directed by Jacopo Spirei.
