Chillida: esku huts

The documentary helps us rediscover the life and figure of the Basque sculptor through testimonies from those closest to him: his children, friends, and family. From a biographical point of view, the documentary takes as its starting point the sculptor's adolescence, a time when his life was transformed by a sports injury that forced him to change course. From a poetic perspective, Juan Barrero tells us how Chillida came to achieve the full meaning of life and how we can still appreciate this in his work, a consistency that began in his early days with iron metallurgy and ended with international recognition.

Alguien más en quien confiar

More than 40 years ago, when neither heavy metal nor democracy existed, the first heavy rock band in the country emerged from the west of Buenos Aires. Twin guitars, the strong personality of its singer, harmonies, counterpoints, sharp keyboards and a rabid double bass drum racked the skulls of those who ventured to listen to them live. Without diffusion or support of any kind, they created a mystique and managed to fill clubs, theaters and stadiums, and at the least expected moment, at the peak of their career, they separated. This is the story of El Reloj and its music. Of the innumerable circumstances and problems that got in the way of their different returns, and how they came out on each occasion inspiring several generations of musicians.

A Living Knot

This performance takes place at the Puente de Cal y Canto bridge in Santiago de Chile, constructed during colonial times at the site where an Inka rope bridge had once connected the south and north of Chile. Vicuña invited friends and passersby to join in creating "a living knot" (un nudo vivo), to recover the memory of the sacred Mapocho Valley and its river, now deeply contaminated. This is one of several "performance-knots" of her Quipu Mapocho, conducted between 2016 and 2017.

White Walls Say Nothing

Buenos Aires is a complex, chaotic city. It has European style and a Latin American heart. It has oscillated between dictatorship and democracy for over a century, and its citizens have faced brutal oppression and economic disaster. Throughout all this, successive generations of activists and artists have taken to the streets of this city to express themselves through art. This has given the walls a powerful and symbolic role: they have become the city’s voice. This tradition of expression in public space, of art and activism interweaving, has made the streets of Buenos Aires into a riot of colour and communication, giving the world a lesson in how to make resistance beautiful.
