Et tu, Dude? serves as an intimate documentation of small-town Canadian musicians screaming unheard into the void.

After a twenty-year-long career, the contemporary art group BGL (Jasmin Bilodeau, Sébastien Giguère and Nicolas Laverdière) are offered a wonderful and colossal challenge. In a short period of time, they are to create and oversee two monumental public art pieces – one in Montréal and the other in Toronto – and represent Canada during the 56th Biennale in Venice. What better moment than to shine the spotlight on this immensely creative trio and allowing us to take a retrospective look on their prolific and disconcerting legacy. 'The Coasters" is a character driven feature documentary that explores the lives of the people living on the Lower-North-Shore of Quebec namely: the Coasters. Anglophone, francophone and first nations innu communities share the isolation of this barren land where there are no roads to the outside world. Every season brings a different challenge for these hardened canadians who live of the land and the sea. They all wait for winter, for when the frozen water and the snow offers the proper conditions for snowmobile travel. Then, the world is theirs. For almost a century, hockey tournaments, carnivals and dancing nights take place every weekend all up "The Coast" in a different village. People that left the region for lack of work comes back for this moment frozen in time, knowing that everytime they come back home, might be the last.

Even children, expectant mothers and the elderly were not spared. Most people don't know about this tragic episode. There is no acknowledgment or apology either from the government to date. And yet, among those who suffered, the love for India and things Indian remain alongside the pain and hurt. It's a story that reminds us that history has a way of repeating itself. Again and again.

This history of colonial law-making forged political and sometimes profane relation- ships between humans and animals. Bambitchell’s essayistic film reimagines common perceptions of legal history and, in doing so, produces a world where past and present, fiction and non-fiction, human and animal fuse.
